It seems the plan is to get Parliament to vote for an extension and when the EU ask what for, to then push for a referendum.

I still think opposing/abstaining tonight is bloody stupid.

Starting to think Jezza may have played a blinder here if as is being mooted a split of the ERG are going to support a Labour no confidence vote if May puts her meaningful vote forward again.

That you believe Karl, from that statement alone, that all brexit voters are racists and bigots is probably a lot of the reason you're not getting through. I voted brexit, but I'm no racist. I fell for the NHS line and and that the UK was run by a group of unelected bureaucrats. You can point and laugh at me until you're blue in the face, and I'd agree I was a fool to buy into the lies, but don't ever brand me a racist or bigot.

He's obviously not referring to you and he's not said that all Leave voters are racist bigots either.

When I say me, I mean brexit voters in general. We are not all racist and bigots as Karl implies in his comment.

Brexit voters were all racists or idiots though.

It wasn't a smart decision, much like voting for a party that put up a referendum on EU membership in the first place.

At least I got a chance to vote against that the next time though since a General Election always gets a do over.

Voting for Brexit, in any form, was more of a monumental act of stupidity than voting Conservative ever has been (well, except maybe right now, at least up to 2015 they'd shown some level of competence) and you had to be, at best, wilfully ignorant to buy into any of the leave arguments.
Brexit voters continue to play the "Remainers look down on us and tell us we're stupid and we didn't know what we voted for!" card as a way to shut down any criticism of them, and I'm sick of it. It's useless trying to be nice anymore, if they're not going to listen might as well call them out on it.

I very much doubt you "call people out" or hurl abuse at others outside of the internet. You wouldn't have the balls, son.

I basically called my grandmother an idiot a few weeks ago, that takes more balls than fighting Mike Tyson in his prime.

Ah, the relative safety of the work place.

I think we're done here.

How did you vote against holding a referendum in 2016 in the 2017 general election?

Jacob Rees Mogg sounds so knowledgeable about constitutional affairs and is a fine orator but he’s a pretty dire political tactician isn’t he.

“Sounds knowledgeable” is basically his thing. Get somebody to say the same words in a Brummie accent and it doesn’t sound so authoritative.

"You only say this on the internet!"
"Here's a place not on the internet I say it"
"That place doesn't count!"
I mean I'm not walking up to random people in the street asking how they voted. I can only really talk to people I know. My friends voted remain, most of my family did (my brother who didn't I call out everytime he brings it up) and then that really just leaves people at work.

At that point I could vote for parties that wanted to reverse Article 50. Or at the very least parties that would negotiate in good faith and not be a total shambles over the whole thing.

Laga mate, calling out people who still want to leave is one thing, but if you're going around pissing off people who've changed their minds (like you are here) then you're actively damaging the pro-EU cause, and being a dick frankly. You should apologise to Gem, he didn't deserve you having a go at him.

Sinn Féin should seriously reconsider their position.

I wasnt having a go at him specifically, and he admitted himself he was a fool for falling for the lies of the leave campaign, just like I was an idiot to vote Conservative in 2015.
Sorry if it was taken too harshly, it wasnt directed at any individual person, just a general feeling towards the Leave vote in 2016.

People were idiots in 2016 to fall for the lies being peddled by Johnson and Farage when they were easily revealable as lies with the tiniest bit if independent research.

He's right. If I said anything Rees-Mogg was saying with my terrible brummie accent, no one would take it seriously whatsoever. Being a posh twat works in his favour.
