Bercow is about to give a statement. His wife is in the viewing gallery. Could be jumping before pushed. I hope not...

Bercow is going to step down on October 31, to give Parliament an opportunity to select the next Speaker before the next election.

Sad to see Bercow go, but he's done it at a time and in a way that should prevent Boris Johnson from being able to choose his replacement.

Casual reminder that Bercow is still a Tory.

and also a bully who harassed his staff

But he was very useful for Remain and he didn't really have to be. Critical support I guess. Hope Remainers in Parliament push through another very Remain Speaker as we'll probably need one in January too.

He’s come a long way since the horrors he was into in his younger days.

He’s not a great guy, but he was useful.

Reading up on Wiki, Bercow seems like a pretty decent politician. Aside from the bullying allegations, I couldn't find anything that bad about him. He seems to have really pushed for LGBT rights, and since being speaker he has really taken on the mantle of protecting parliament and the unwritten consititution.

He was the chairman of these banana splits.

He seems to have changed his views though which is a good thing.

I hope one day Ringo actually manages to find something he has some talent for. It's not too late.

How does that make Ringo a twat? His political era was dominated by the likes of Tony Benn. We need to get away from this line of thought that everyone for Brexit is an idiot or evil. Staying out of the EEC was the left wing position back in the day.

He's not inherently an idiot for voting for Brexit. A lot of people who voted for Brexit were misled, either about the costs of EU membership, or the potential for a better deal, or the degree to which the EU is "in control". (I won't make excuses for the "Lexit" folks though, if you voted for Brexit while the Tories were in charge expecting "Lexit" then, well...)

So I agree with you 100% that we shouldn't be demonising every Brexit voter.

What makes him an idiot is going on camera when we've just narrowly avoided the disaster of a far-right No Deal---which you would actually have to be an idiot to support---and saying "Brexit won, we voted to take back control, let's just get on with it!"

It's stupid Daily Mail rhetoric that totally misunderstands basic democratic principles and completely misrepresents everything that has happened over the last few years, that for all intents and purposes advocates for a far-right No Deal. Only an idiot would say it.
