You'd think with that £350 million a week we'd be able to subsidise the fishing industry no problem.

I think there is going to be a long queue of industries wanting a piece of that £350m a week.

If only it was real and not a lie concocted by populist demagogues to get people to vote against their own interests.

However, Withers believes that money "will run out quickly" and without coming to some new sort of arrangement with the European Union, "this sort of exporting might not be sustainable" and will "almost certainly lead to the very people the [Prime Minister] said he was fighting for losing their jobs."

Hilarious that these rubes still don't get it. Johnson has never fought for anyone except himself.

That, of course, is assuming you can find someone who'll still ship to the UK

Presumably you'll have to pay those charges if you go on holiday to the EU as well.

Well yes but that didn’t work as well as a closing dig

I wasn't quite sure and wanted confirmation. This whole thing really sucks.

It's about some vague notation of England (and I do mean England) as an identity and trying to protect it. Everything must be scarified to keep the state pure and unaffected by European or outside influences. It's not about giving people the choice to act in whatever way they like, it's an attempt to do the opposite and force everybody to adopt a narrow identity.

I think you're over thinking it a little, it's mostly about Tories not liking being told what to do by jumped up foreigners. And then their quest to demonise aforementioned foreign types so that the masses vote for their ridiculous ideas.

I don't think I am, it plays into Mogg wanting to send the flag from HMS victory to France. They are totally wedding to the idea of Englishness.

Dragging this into the Brexit thread where it belongs, but I suspect it is all about a small number of people making even more exhorbitant amounts of money at the expense of everyone else, and stunts like this are them LARPing as the good old British Empire and how to sell it to the idiots and racists who they got to vote against their own self interests.

That's certainly part of it, also probably a bit to do with Russia trying to damage the UK and EU, but I think it's a good reason why people went along with the whole thing. I do think a lot of the ERG people also fit broadly into the same category. They're not just LARPing at some level they do actually buy into what they are selling, even if Mogg et al stand to make a lot of money out of this stuff.

You can get cards that charge you 0% fees for using anywhere in the world can't you? Hopefully there will be options, even if it means applying for a new car, which isn't ideal I know but still.

What's this bollocks being plastered over social media by pro-Brexit Conservative MPs?

Now we've left the EU, we'll seize this moment to enhance workers’ rights - not row back on them!

My take away from that is the EU allow member states to control their own laws to a fair degree.

Yes. Essentially because a handful of EU countries have worse rights than we do they can make out that the EU is worse other all.

If there's one thing the UK definitely shouldn't try to boast about it's sick pay. It's one of the lowest paid in Europe. :fp:

Indeed. Our state pension is awful in comparison too.
