I am against any trade deal with the US. No offence to any Americans, but doing deals with their politicians is like doing deals with the devil. They bought and paid for by corporate capital and will negotiate from the standpoint of seeking to bleed us dry. This would apply whether or not Trump is in power.

The Brexiteers like to claim the EU's lack of a formal US trade deal is a negative rather than it simply being a case of them knowing better.

The UK food industry has asked the government to waive aspects of competition law to allow firms to coordinate and direct supplies with each other after a no-deal Brexit.

It might make sense to waive some competition laws if there is a no deal Brexit, but it is worrying that big business are already looking at what laws and regulations they can get rid of or get changed.

This is my main issue with a lot of the leave side. I can fully accept that sovereignty is something you might want to leave the EU to regain. However, you can't then pick and choose just how sovereign you want to be. You can't prorogue parliament to enact a default scenario, you can't just buck the democratic process of no confidence motions, and you can't put bills through without meaningful votes. People bemoan the deadlock in Parliament, but this is exactly what the system was designed for, to ensure proper scrutiny and debate of legislation.

And if they want to leave the EU on the basis of sovereignty, you can't stop after Brexit. That means a fully democratic parliament, abolish the house of Lords and create a fully elected upper house.

I agree with most of that except the implication that somehow we are not sovereign while members of the EU.
