I think Roc still lives in Poland, so ironically it could have been ordering British that might have been the issue.

Yeah this is the case - could only find the specific item I needed on UK sites.

But really I'm just too patriotic for my own good, rule Brittania!

Arlene and Co are suing that NI didn't consent to the NI protocol.

(Reminder NI didn't consent to Brexit but Arlene and co didn't care then)

I'm looking at about 25% increase in prices from Amazon UK now. Our US relations got us a €200 Amazon Gift voucher for Xmas that we aren't using till they build that Amazon Warehouse thingy in Dublin.

Any word on a timeline for that? Not heard anything since the original story.

Screw Ireland, they chose to leave the union and are still moaning about higher prices 100 years later!

Non Amazon parcels from GB are still taking strawberry floating ages to come to me.

Amazon are still delivering stuff quicker than they usually do. It's weird.

Simple solution, don't buy from Amazon. Shouldn't be buying from those tax dodgers anyway.

Your point about the tax evasion is valid, but it doesn't really solve the situation with deliveries here.

The option here is, don't order from Amazon, have stuff take ages to come (I may need the stuff quickly), or order from Amazon and have the stuff with me within 1 or 2 days if in stock. And usually cheaper to boot.

Even with the tax dodging, it's a no brainer. Especially if I need something asap.

It can be difficult not to buy from Amazon sometimes though. Something like a TV or console you can buy from other places easily enough, but if you're after a weird PC building cable or something niche like that you're sometimes looking at paying almost as much as the cable is worth in postage from another online seller. And even if you could go to the high street there's no shops that would conceivably stock stuff like that.

There's a very simple way around it, the government could legislate to close the loopholes. They continuously harp on about it but take no actual action to address it. They seem to hope that public opinion will force Amazon to do the right thing as opposed to making them. Obviously they're taking advantage of exactly the same thing, it's just not such low hanging fruit that the papers can ignore it.

Devil's advocate: that could be the Co-op allaying fears that they don't fly in ice from the Antarctic like in that Simpsons episode.
