What difference will it make. I can't see Apple making new lighting port phones just for the UK market. I'm guessing everything will go USB C for cost savings.

Amusement under late capitalism is the prolongation of work.

Yes it will, which makes the UK's position seem even more childish and reinforces how small we've made ourselves.

What? You know why Apple make proprietary ports and chargers right? They will absolutely continue to use Lightning ports in the UK as they do in the US.

It would increase costs to use 2 different types, it will be USB-C for all.

If they continue to use lightning ports in the rest of the world, then they will not give the UK USB-C.

Will they just stop selling phones in Europe, then? I can't see them making two completely different devices with different sockets :slol: Maybe they'll just bundle in a stupid Lightning > USB-C adapter as a workaround that'll end up producing even more waste than just swapping to USB-C properly.

Of course it will, it means that the list of SKUs doubles one for usb-c one for lightning, different firmware to handle each version, testing, validation, etc.

Just saying "no it wont" is incredibly naive about reality.

So they'd remake the SKU for the World just to cater to the EU?

And IM being naive!

Yeah I bet they'll do something like that. They won't want to lose any money and so will just flog some USB adapters to make even more money.

Hopefully the EU law means that isn't possible.

If it makes them more profit to do so, then yes absolutely.

Double SKUs has a cost. But they also make a lot of money from selling their own proprietary chargers so it'll come down to whether that's enough revenue to justify making two models.
