Blue passports and American food.
Denster wrote:Calling an election just before the 31st Oct deadline (thus ensuring No Deal) is pretty canny from Boris. Brexit would bolster our vote as we'd hoover up a lot of the Brexit Party's share. That would possibly result in a modest but workable majority.

It’s bloody awful for me, but I think you’re right.
An election before 31 October means he can kill off the Brexit Party while also enjoying his new leader bounce.
After 1 November he’ll either have pissed off the BP nutcases or will have plunged us into economic chaos.

Doesn't seem that canny if he's planning on being PM for a long time.

Won't be able to call an election without parliamentary approval because of the Fixed Terms Act.

Labour would probably go for an election.

If it is seen as a way for Boris to go for no deal they would block it (probably, who knows with Corbyn)

The only way I see Labour blocking it is if it is a cynical attempt at closing Parliament to force no deal through.

In your view when do you see him setting the date? On the 31st?

I’ve no idea, I’m not convinced he will do it, I just think if he has any sense he will.
An early/mid October election would probably get through Parliament. Late October possibly? It’s a definite no go if he wants it for 1 November just so Parliament is closed and no deal goes through.

It's just if it's too early it gives him the chance to extend the negotiations with the EU, without any threat from the BP for five years. After the 31st and he might be very unpopular.

"Our vote" you'd actually vote for Boris and the cabinet of absolute bastards he's assembled? Jesus, strawberry floating, Christ
