Surely if it became apparent Boris was pushing for (and likely to get) a No Deal, they'd just bring forward the VONC? There are more than enough people against a no deal Brexit to get rid of him.

Depends on what they want more. Johnson in jail or a Brexit extension.

There is nothing wrong with current LED light bulbs. Yes, they cost about £25 but they last forever. They're excellent. Also changed the one in my kitchen this year (from the old tube).

I think people that are incandescent with rage must still be thinking of those shitty energy lights from 2000 that took a while to get to full beam and then gave you a headache.

Despite his history of lying, cheating and failing, there are still a lot of people out there that think “Boris has something up his sleeve!”.

I guess anything is possible, but is there anything in Johnson’s history that could lead anybody to believe he is capable of finding a loophole that would allow him to crash us out without any deal?

What he is doing is playing up to the Leavers out there, Johnson knows he will be forced to send the letter (or delegate sending it) and so he needs to appear like he is being forced to. There’s nothing up his sleeve, he’s just conning people. Again.

On the other hand, Hungarian officials were seen coming out of a building the cabinet were holding an emergency meeting in, so he could well have a veto agreed with them or something equally outrageous (sovereignty!).

Johnson's number one priority is Johnson. The idea that he was willing to offer himself up as a Brexit martyr was always unlikely.

He and Cummings are bluster and pomp, nothing more.

Could be Hungary using the threat of a veto to get favours from other EU countries. Might benefit them more to do that and avoid the impact of no deal on the EU compared to whatever Johnson can promise them and really angering the rest of the EU.

Johnson wants an election but is also proroguing so that he can have a Queen’s Speech.

The two things do not go together, a Queen’s Speech is to set out the governments agenda, which is meaningless if there is an election shortly after. He also knows that he has to request an extension so closing down Parliament isn’t going to force through No Deal.

He is either trying to use the Queen for Tory propaganda or he is trying to close this session of Parliament so he can bring back May’s Deal.

LED bulbs are pretty cheap these days as well, I think I got a pack of spotlight ones recently that worked out at not much more that £1 per bulb.

But yeah that poll is insane, hopefully lots of the people who think like that are on the way out anyway.
