Britain’s former ambassador to the European Union Ivan Rogers has predicted that Britain will leave the post-Brexit transition at the end of this year with no deal, describing Boris Johnson as a Trumpite politician who wants the EU to fail.
“Johnson and his team persuaded themselves that the EU would be so panicked that they would give in eventually. And it didn’t happen. Boris didn’t, I believe, start off as a true no dealer, but he seems now formally in the camp with Dominic Cummings: ‘to hell with it, we should walk away’,” Sir Ivan told The Irish Times.

The Tories seem to be some weird quantum state between climbing down and doubling down. They seem to be trying to get a deal over fishing rights with the EU and backing down to their backbenchers and the North Ireland Sec has said the EU has acted in good faith. Then Johnson has said they haven't been acting in good faith and Raab is trying to win the Americas round.
"Well...uhhh...you see Nancy...did you know Britain is an island, I only recently found out...well we promise to be good...uhh Boris is a bloody good guy you know...just trust us!"
John Redwood, a leading Brexiter, said: “Trade deals are nice to have but not essential. We did not have a trade deal with the US when we were in the EU. Getting back full control of our laws, our money and our borders is essential.”
