If my wife would allow it, I'd love to do that.

Throw her out as well, problem solved! :toot:

I went straight to work after a little bit of further education. Worked like a bastard in my 20's and lived with my ma until I was like 30. I only really paid keep in this time (this was more than my mortgage is now funnily enough).

I was pretty lucky to have family that wanted me to actually be there. Although I've missed out on a lot, I think (uni experience etc.)

I don't know if I'd recommend it.

I ended up moving back home in my late 20s, which allowed me to save for a deposit, after spending the time before that enjoying myself in a city.

Sometimes you just don't have great options and you just need to take a short term hit to hopefully allow you to achieve something later.

It's a difficult balance though, I've been single this entire time with only a few one night stands and dates in that time, which is far from ideal. It'll also be nice to have somewhere I can invite mates to hang out, and maybe even host parties.

I moved out at 18 and never looked back but I've got two older brothers who both lived with our parents until their late 20s. Part of me is going to be forever pissed off at how much money they saved by staying at home for so long but at the same time I just don't think I could have coped with it, I really needed my own space!

That's not a growth wrote:Things have been going well. Mortgage broker seem to think I'll get about £1.3k less than the max I was hoping for, which is very workable and much better than the massive drop I was fearing last week (god, it's only been a week since my offer was accepted, this has been the longest week of my strawberry floating life, urgh).

So I just submitted loads of statements and stuff so the mortgage broker can apply for the mortgage for me, but they seem happy so far. Moment of truth I guess.

There was a slight hiccup that I had to get an up-to-date statement generated on one of my accounts (which was a strawberry floating faff as I couldn't remember my phone banking password, as seriously who the hell doesn't give hints so you know which of your passwords it's going to be?), as it wasn't due for a week and the old one didn't cover when I moved my deposit into it - but it's all good now and it's all submitted to the mortgage provider! Moment of truth.

I can understand that, I very much liked living away from home during my 20s. Moving back home initially wasn't really my decision, I pretty much had to due to circumstance unfortunately - but I certainly did stay there longer than I needed to when I realised how much I was saving and began to forecast on my prospects for buying somewhere.

Some good news! My estate agent just called to say that the surveyor has approved the valuation and therefore my buyer is just waiting for her full mortgage approval.

I don't know how long that takes, but I'm glad the valuation went ok and that things are moving along.

Nice one, that was one of the main hurdles you werev waiting for weren't you, with her mortgage being the other? With my mortgage they're saying it'll be at least a week until I hear back, but I shouldn't be more than a few weeks (as long as there isn't a back and forth needing more info) so hopefully her's won't be too long.

Little does Moggy know, his landlord sits on the mortgage approval panel of his buyer's bank.

Another hurdle cleared, it's all coming together nicely!

Once the buyers have their mortgage in place then things should start to move pretty swiftly. How are things going with your purchase of your next place?

It was a big hurdle, I was convinced that they'd come up with a much lower value. Not for any real reason, just my paranoia! Looking at values around here, this place is one of the cheaper options despite its (imo!) ridiculous price.

The purchase is all going fine, I have very few concerns there as I am going to have a lot of equity from the sale of this place. My solicitor sent some documents over confirming some of the searches they have carried out. It all looks fine to me, nothing of concern.

I just want to move now, am bloody sick of this flat.

After all the fuss I've made and after forcing them to refund money to me, they ought to be glad to see the back of me.

What's the update on the latest bill from the management company?

I queried it and they said they had sent a S20 notice back in November. Absolute bollocks of course but I can't afford to get into a dispute so am just paying the increased quarterly service charge.

They've said the increased service charge will last for a year, so I'm hoping it doesn't put my buyer off when her solicitor gets sent the management pack. Worst case scenario is I'll offer to pay the increased amount (£900ish in total).

Surely if she can afford to be buying a flat, she can afford £900.

Not long till we go bowling Moggy

I'm sure she can afford it. But suddenly being told there's £900 extra to pay might make somebody a little pissed off. I'm not mentioning it, just going to wait and see what happens.

Do they have bowling in Wales? I thought the only leisure activity was gardening?

Depends if there's a Welsh person doing well in bowling somewhere really. If so, then everyone is nuts on it and it's the greatest thing on earth. Once that person is out of it, then it doesn't exist any more (see Gerald Thomas in the cycling).

We should take up crown bowls :datass:

I've got my mortgage offer.

It's less than I was expecting by a few grand, but still within my budget.

Apparently my broker was told on Wednesday and didn't contact me. Bellends.

It means I might as well go for a 80% LTV, rather than 85% like I was aiming for - so at least I'll get a better rate out of this.

My emotions are all over the place. Mostly nauseous. A bit miffed. But excitement is creeping in.

It's getting real. Still a few hurdles, but that was a big one.
