Nice! We also got our mortgage offer through a couple of days ago. Everything is just waiting on the chain closing now so we're stuck in limbo where we know we're supposed to be buying a house but nothing is actually happening.

Thanks for the love guys. Our sellers are movi g out this week and we're renting now so I'm hoping for a smooth transition. As long as we're in and furnished in time to put up a ridiculous fancy Christmas tree to celebrate I'll be happy.

The banana splits have replied (they've still not paid the £250 compensation!).

They are rejecting my demand that they honour the agreement etc. Their letter is appalling, full of threats and major inaccuracies. They keep referring to letters they've previously issued as having the reference "Outstanding Service Charges Ground Floor Shop". Fuckwits, I don't live in a strawberry floating shop, they are just incapable of getting anything right.

It does have this absolute stunning piece of gaslighting though:

Having re-read and fully responded to each point in your letter, it is my opinion that we have exhausted all avenues of possible compromise as you seem to be unable to comprehend your current untenable position.

As a result, you seem to be ‘locked’ into an enveloping vortex which is blinding you to the reality of the situation and is not allowing you any clarity of thought.

strawberry float me lads, you just lost with the Ombudsman but you think it's me that's in a "vortex" that's blinding me?

They've offered to accept £4,400 instead of £6,400 to settle it. Although on one reply they've said I have 30 days to pay them that but on another reply they say I have 14 days.

Incompetent strawberry floats.

What the strawberry float  who writes like that? Unbelievable stuff — it's hard to imagine what level of dickheadery these people are operating at.

I also had to laugh that we've "exhausted all avenues of possible compromise" but they then knock £2k off as an offer a couple of paragraphs later.

I hope so. I need this gooseberry fool over with, it's driving me insane.

I'll have the satisfaction soon of reporting them to the Property Ombudsman again as they still haven't paid the £250 compensation they owe me. They have been set a deadline of next Tuesday and I'm confident they won't do it. Hopefully they end up getting struck off, which will mean they can no longer trade.

That would be a very satisfying turn of events. It's a shame it has to be so stressful until things get resolved, but at least there's a good chance they're really going to strawberry float themselves up very soon.

Yeah that's reads like classic "we're strawberry floated but lets try and bluster and threaten as much as possible and hopefully the other side back down".

Just need to see it out calmly now!

Moggy I don't think I've ever wanted someone to win something as much I as I want you to destroy these charlatans.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Cheers lads. Hopefully I do end up destroying them, I've never detested a company the way I detest these bastards.

"enveloping vortex" should be your new title

We should incorporate that into the next forum game, the "enveloping vortex" could be a night action in Are You An Ombudsman?
