Failing that, pretty much all kitchen and bathroom shops do 0% interest loans repaid over several years which is better than relying on a personal loan or hoping for a 0% credit card with a large balance for long enough to repay the debt before the reversion rate kicks in.

Home gym is the first thing I was thinking of when it comes to houses :lol:

I really wanted a garage but they're quite rare near Warsaw and push houses out of my price range where they do exist.

I think I'll need to go with a customisable squat rack that has optional add ons like dip bars and place it in the garden. Will cover it with a big tarpaulin when not in use. Can tell the mrs is thrilled by about 20% of the garden being taken up with this monstrosity :slol:

We've got another 4 years on the current deal with this lender, I'll have to find out about the fees involved for moving it early. No bad credit or background debt, and nursery is £400 a month which isn't cripplingly high like some people have to deal with. Will definitely be checking out in-house finance from the bathroom companies, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to take my money.

I appreciate the advice in this thread and feel a bit more positive now, thanks guys :wub:

My mortgage period is coming to an end and needs renewing so I don't get put on the base rate which will make my cost of everything go up massively. The company that helped me the first time want a fee of £395 if we get an offer and I'm certainly more likely to get a better deal through them and my Dad recommended them, anyone have any experience with something like this and could let me know if it's worth it? I've got the money and it's not a big deal either since I just got a bunch of overtime, just want to check.

Have you tried L&C (London and Country)? They are few free and were decent when I used them. Doesn't hurt to get a quote from them.

This could be bad advice, but I used a mortgage broker for my first one and at the time it all seemed very worthwhile, rate-busting etc but then the second time around I simply went to the bank and did it myself. If anything it was less stressful (I swear the mortgage broker added unnecessary processes/sensationalised things to make it seem like he was doing lots of work) and I got a much better rate. This was because the base rate was lower at the time, but I'd be stunned if the mortgage broker would have found a lower one just because he's a mortgage broker. Nationwide assured me it was the lowest rate I'd get even if I went through a broker, and I mean of course they would say that, but I do think they were telling the truth and they were providing better offers than any other lenders so I was perfectly happy to go with them.

Could be talking bollocks but just thought I'd share my experience. Also, I've still got the broker on Facebook and he's a Tory prick and a landlord, so I'm almost certainly biased against him because of that.

Guy at my work is trying to move and just found out that his ex-wife is still on the Mortgage even though she shouldn't be. He's trying to move and the wife is refusing to sign the papers to hand the flat over and it looks like his move is going to fall through.

That's a bit weird - at the time, either he received signed confirmation she wasn't on the mortgage any more or he didn't. There's not really much of a grey area with mortgage contracts in that regard.

Yeah sounds like hes royally strawberry floated up or not being fully honest.

I was quoted about 8k to remove my ex from my mortgage so just remortgaged. Not sure how you can think someone was removed and be mistaken.

I talked to the guy at work again and apparently he's now having an issue because the flat he owns was a house that was split into two flats and he needs the other guy who owns the other flat to sign something.

I've been decorating my flat so that it's ready to put on the market. Finally finished the last bit yesterday. Yay! No more bloody painting!

Today the landlord sent a bloke over to change the intercom. The new intercom is a different size and shape and now I have a massive square patch on the wall that is a completely different colour to the rest of the wall. Of course I got rid of the leftover hallway paint a few days ago.

The first decent thing they've done in a decade and it's completely strawberry floated up my decorating. Bastards. :lol:
