Buying a TV

Hey folks. Looking for some advice on buying a new TV.

I currently have a 40" 1080p Samsung and was looking to upgrade to a 50" 4k screen in time for PS5.

Hoping to spend no more than £500.

Been looking at Hisense 50U7QFTUK and a Samsung something-or-other.

Everything I look at has good reviews and bad reviews. I'm hoping I'll see a huge improvement over what I currently have, whatever a choose.

Hijacking this for me as well :shifty:
Decided I'm finally going to upgrade to a 4K TV in time for the new consoles coming out.

Can't be any bigger than 43 inches
Budget is probably £500, could maybe stretch to £550
It'll be going on top of a Ikea Kallax 2x2 unit which is 77.2cm, so it must be able to fit on top of that (wall mounting isn't an option)
Must be good for gaming.

No idea what makes are the best or what I should be looking for, so any help would be appreciated.

Panasonic HX580 chaps. Great mid-range TV.

The HX800/820 gets fantastic reviews. The 50" is outside my budget at £699, but I wonder if it will drop much on Black Friday.

Yeah the 800 is brilliant, but I didn't mention it as it was outside your budget. Definitely pick that up if it comes in anywhere close though. 580 is still really decent for the price.

Think I might get an LG OLED55BX6LB as part of my new 'cinema' setup. (bringing the total projected cost to just under 2 grand).

Will probably wait see if the CX gets a significant Black Friday price cut though before splashing the cash.

Does it have HDMI 2.1?

No.

HDMI 2.1 seems to be only available on top end TVs at the moment. And I'm not sure any can do 4k at 120Hz.

Having a brief look (as a family member is looking for a 4K TV for when they get a PS5 next year) at TVs and I’m struggling to see many 4K TVs that offer 60hz never mind 120hz? Their budget is around £400 for what its worth.

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8838731 So far I’ve found this one which kind of fits what they want and is 60hz but I’ve no idea how good/bad Hisense is as a brand?
