Really getting on well with the single player, despite my hatred of respawning enemies.

Seems like Treyarch have been given a bit of a hard time, so far I think its on par with CoD4.

Cheers for the Heart of the Reich pointers mcjihge2 and SugarDave. I almost did the 4th gun tonight. I went back and restarted the level as I had a pretty crappy checkpoint and am now in a better starting spot for the last 2.

On all the videos I've seen where they say it's on veteran, there's nothing like the amount of grenade spamming I get. 3,4,5 and more at a time as I approach the building to the right after the tank gets blown up. There's also always at least 3 dudes by that building entrance camped out, who I have to molotov from afar or else I get hammered everytime. I'll get it done though, I think I've got an Ultra veteran mode copy

Is there a separate matchmaking listing for them or are they mixed up with the main maps? Have you managed to get many games on them yet?

(if you have had time to play them at all)

Sorry for not answering sooner (I don't post in here on weekends) yes, the new maps are seperate at the momenrt, but will be added to the main map listings at a later date.

Cal, playing LIVE at first is very hard, you start off as a noob, gooseberry fool guns, gooseberry fool perks etc and yes you will come up against level 50+ all the time and will get your arse handed to you regularly, but what I will say is stick with it, the more you play, the more the game rewards you. You get better guns later on. I'm level 56 now and am armed to the teeth!

OK guys, what's the deal with this "prestige" mode on LIVE? Is there any point to it? I've heard all the unlocked weapons / perks etc are reset, but you get different badges? Does the kill score stay the same at 10 of I heard a rumour it's 20 points a kill?

If that's the case, is there anyway not to become prestige and just stay at 65? I'd rather keep my weapons thanks.

All weapons, challenges, perks etc. are reverted, except your leaderboard stats. As far as I know you don't get extra xp, you just start again from rank 1 with a new badge.

Prestige is just there to show off basically, or in my case, I get annoyed not earning xp anymore and think strawberry float it.

You also get an extra custom class slot each time you do it.

I did it a few times on COD4, the first time I was really unsure but then you go up four levels in your first game and you realise why. So much congratulatory stuff popping up on screen it's like playing Burnout3 at times.

So would it be worth doing prestige? I'm about 1500 points away from having to make the descision. :?

I think you should definitely go into prestige.

See how you feel. I ran around at level 55 for a couple of weeks but saw I was getting bored as there's nothing left to do except go for the challenges and I was so deeply in love with the red-dot M16 by that point that I couldn't use anything else bar the odd bit of RPD on shipment or silenced AK on Overgrown. So I did it. And really the first few hours after that are just fantastic as you feel like an utter hero with all that gooseberry fool popping up onscreen.

I should probably point out though that I was fine as the M16's available in COD4 from the start, if I had to work to get it with unfamiliar weaponry and no decent perks I'd probably have felt differently.

You dont have to decide to go prestige straight away (of at least that is what its like on COD4). If its like cod 4, then once you get upto level 65, a prestige option will open up and you can choose it anytime. Im still on level 55 on COD4, i dont think i would choose prestige. And i dont think i would choose prestige in CODW@W, im currently on about level 40 and that has taken maybe about 15-20 hours, and i wouldnt want to lose my guns etc.

I dont really play this enough now. When's the next double exp weekend? - i might use that to push for the pphb45 (?or whatever its called)

EDIT: As Nate said the difference is that on COD4 the starting guns are very good, but with CODW@W its the later guns that are better, so i personally wouldnt go for it.

OK cheers guys, looks like I may hang around on 65. There's no point in going on into prestige as my LIVE account runs out next month and I won't be re-newing it over the summer months.

Mcj- Double points weekend has just gone(17/18/19) I'm afraid.

Nate - Unlike you, I 'tend to use a range of weapons on different maps. I would use things like sniper rifles on Seelow or Clifftop, and use heavy weapons in maps like Roundhouse. So yeah, losing all that would be like a kick in the nuts!

I know what you mean about the red-dot M16, I've really got to grips with it and love it!!!!

Well. I've got there. And now I'm unsure whether to go to prestige level one or stay where I am. I mean I don't want to lose my guns, perks, challenges etc, but what's the point in racking up 20+ kills each map and get nothing for it?!

Indeed...and watch those 20+ kills hit the deck when you enter prestige :D

New Call Of Duty map pack coming June

Would you believe there's a second Call of Duty: World at War map pack coming in June? You should, it's happening.

Just as I approach level 65 in CoD multiplayer, and begin to make plans to get my life back on track, Activision unveils a second map pack for World At War that'll arrive next month.

Imaginatively titled 'Map Pack 2' you'll get 'Banzai' (a jungle map complete with waterfalls and caves), 'Corrosion' (more trainyard action) and 'Sub Pens' (rainy bombed-out submarine base).

Even better news is word of a new Nazi Zombies map called 'Shi No Numa', which means Zombie Swamp. It's got a new weapon, the Wunderwaffe DG-2, and "flaming Hell Hounds" as well as new achievements.

First images shouldn't be too far off.

World At War Map Pack 1 Sells Two Million

The popularity of Nazi zombies is cemented forever in video game sales history, as Activision announces more than two million downloads of the Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1.

Released in March, the first map pack for Call of Duty: World at war contained three multiplayer maps players couldn't care less about and one Nazi zombie map, which players went crazy for. So crazy that the pack sold its first million within one week of release. Treyarch is all sorts of ecstatic.

"This is a huge milestone and we are so appreciative of our incredibly supportive community who continue to play and enjoy the game," said Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch. "We're hard at work on Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 and look forward to delivering that in June."

The second map pack, announced last week, ups the ante with three new multiplayer maps that players couldn't care less about and one Japanese zombie map, which should drive another two million sales easy.

Do people on here still play the zombie game as I'd love to give it a shot in multiplayer on PS3 as it's hard not to get trapped in single player.

I hope those rumors of WaW 2 being set in Veitnam are true to :D.

Yeah so many people (before it even came out i might add) berated this game as a poor mans cod 4, as a rubbish cheap knock off or as another dull seen it all before ww2 shooter. Few were prepared to give treyarch a chance with this one and all wanted infinity ward back to make another cod. All of this was of course massively unfair when you played the finished article, though because of such negative criticism that the game turned out half as good as it is meant its incredibly enjoyable to play in a "wow this is actually pretty good then?" sorta way.

I'd still rather play this (and regularly do as my friends list will atest) online over cod 4. Its not a 'better' game but is easily as good as cod 4 imo. I love the WW2 setting, the history, the clunkiness of the guns and the darker approach to the conflict this game offers. Any regular players of this online looking for someone else to join their fight may feel free to add me. I play this more then probably anything else right now and can be regularly seen playing online most nights.

I think World at War is a great game both on or off-line. Whereas I think CoD4 just about shades it on LIVE, I love the WWII setting and long may it continue.
