Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand I’m in. My first COD since Modern warfare 3.

Edit: don’t like the sound of strategic co-op missions. Sound like spec ops but with forced co-op.

They had some missions like that in 2 & 3. If you can’t get anyone to help, you can’t play the mission & to me that’s shite game design 101. They should let you complete these with a AI bot.

£60 for the standard edition can strawberry float off.

If there's no season pass then how is it going to make an even larger anount of money than before? Knowing the industry's propensity for changing language to avoid being wrong and trying to save face, does that mean it will have battlepasses ala dota/fortnite which, whatever they are, are not "season passes"?

Glad they’ve finally given the engine an overhaul. Presumably it’s good to go for the next consoles as well.

Watch as there’s now a terrorist attack in one of the locations featured in the game at around the same time it’s scheduled to launch and it needs to be delayed.

How will they balance this do we reckon? Give consolers even more auto-aim than normal when against PC players, like in that one Xbox 360 shooter that was crossplay? Or confine players to lobbies and only let them mix when in mixed parties?

I uncomfortable about the game featuring a scenario about terrorism in London as gameplay. I'm very conscious that, in the past, games have featured game elements based on real locations and situations but I think the combination of better graphics and more life-like presentation now makes this topic more contentious.

Recognising that recent incidents are still raw in the memory, I'm not sure that the theme could be a subject suitable for gameplay. Beyond the headlines, I wonder what the gameplay involves and how it is handled? I guess we'll need to see more to construct a full opinion but, based on the snippets we know so far, it feels a bit off.

I remember when GTAV PS4 version was about to hit, and FPS gifs were doing the rounds of players going into stores and shooting the vendor in the head at point blank range. It looked grim as strawberry float, and a lot of people were wondering if this was the moment games had gone too far.

Needless to say, it wasn't.

I do feel your concern, but I don't think graphical fidelity has much to do with it. I'm sure there's a name for the phenomenon but every new generation of graphics appears lifelike until the next one comes along (although I'm definitely not denying progress is constantly being made).

I personally find these games distasteful not because of the individual scenes they portray but the implicit world-view they present: being a soldier is an inherently honourable profession, the military-industrial complex is cool as gooseberry fool, war is unpleasant but necessary. It glamorises a job that should not be glamorised and does it in a way that blurs the line between reality and the fantasy it presents.

Also $60 is a fuuuuuucking joke and that trailer is bad. I still have no idea if it's a remake*, a reboot or something completely new. The lazy as strawberry float title doesn't help either.

*I actually had to check I wasn't watching a trailer for the original Modern Warfare remake from a few months back...

I see exactly what you mean Jawa.

I used to love playing games and watching movies based on WW1, WW2 and Vietnam because, during the late 90s, it felt like another planet, it felt like a world we were leaving behind as we basked in prosperous and peaceful times.

Then 9/11 happened and shattered it all, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Trump, I have no nostalgia for the world of the 2000s/2010s.

Gears 4 has an opt in opt out toggle in options on console v PC, I’m sure this will be similar but great to have Xbox and PlayStation mp.

Call of Duty: MMXX

They love doing these name/number resets. I remember Ubisoft doing it with Prince of Persia in 2008 (a game I liked, but I guess nobody else did because it hasn't been seen on console since), despite only having rebooted it in 2003.

And of course more recently Tomb Raider and Hitman.

Nothing will be worse than Star Wars Battlefront II, because now I have to always specify I'm talking about the original

Orange loves Star Wars Battlefront II; he reckons that EA did a great job and everyone should buy it .

Yeah, I just don't think I'll be comfortable playing a game featuring a scenario of terrorism in London; but, of course, I'll wait to find out just how it is presented and handled.

To be honest, I found the preview trailer for the new Ghost Recon game was a bit too "realistic", too; the stabbing and slicing seemed, to me, a bit much.

tl;dr jawa wants rainbow-coloured, soft pillow battles (with appropriate safety clothing) etc.

It is in very poor taste to have a terrorism incident in London, but I'm not surprised really - it's topical and makes it a talking point which gives it more publicity. It's not like they're the only people to do stuff like that, it's just the cynical world we live in.

There are attacks in London in film and TV literally all the time, no one cares about them. New York gets it even worse. Why should it make a difference being in a game? It's all fiction
