Yep, this must be the largest game I own in storage terms, it's absolutely insane. I do wonder if they actually think about reducing these sizes or are under so much pressure to just get it out.

Maybe (small chance) there will be a patch to reduce it all, Sea of Thieves released a patch a few months ago reducing it's 40gb down to 20gb for X1X so it might be possible.

God knows how anyone is managing with an original Xbox One or PS4 HDD.

Here's hoping there's an option for a 2TB SSD or something at launch for the next consoles. It won't be cheap, but at least put it out there.

Call of Duty: Warzone is launching on March 10, but it seems that the free-to-play game isn't quite as free as we first thought, with a paywall on Xbox One that means you'll require an Xbox Live Gold subscription in order to play the game online.

It's a rather different situation on PC and PS4, where Warzone will be – as expected – free to download and play.

It's a curious move from Microsoft, given the impetus it gives players to access the game on other platforms – and it flies in the face of the usual narrative around Sony's lack of cooperation when it comes to cross-platform, free-to-play games like Warzone, Fortnite, or Apex Legends.

It took Sony a really long time to enable cross-play for Fortnite on PS4, largely because of the company's desire to keep players in its own platform – with former boss of Sony Entertainment Online Joe Smedley admitting this was more to do with financial profit than technical difficulty.

Will this stunt the growth of Warzone? Probably not – and we should be glad that the game is, at the very least, cross-platform. But Xbox One players have been given the short straw, and those without a paid subscription will likely be looking to play elsewhere, either on PC or with a different Call of Duty fix altogether, such as COD: Mobile.

I might leave this downloading overnight to give it a try, but I expect to not get it like all the other BRs I've dabbled in.

The phrasing in this article is bizarre, Sony always have feee online for free games, Xbox hasn’t but it’s now seen as a ‘curious move’ that could ‘stunt the growth’ the last line about looking for their fix elsewhere is hilarious. I’d love to know the percentage of Xbox owners without gold, especially as it’s been wrapped into Gamepass Ultimate, also I’m sure most PS4 owners who game online will have plus...

So I left this downloading overnight, but it apparently only got about 5gb in before there was some sort of network error in the battle.net launcher. Arse to that then.
