They did a Futurama/Simpsons cross over in the comic books, it was actually pretty good.
The story was set in the Futurama universe, with those big floating brains trying to take over the universe, and instead of going into a classic book they went into an old Simpsons comic.

Why bother renewing for more seasons. All the good characters are long gone anyway and that sadly started with the death of Phil Hartman.

That'll kill the show stone dead. Not sure how they'll get around the sheer volume of characters they'll lose unless they bring in a sub-par impersonator.

Burns, Flanders, Skinner, Smithers, Lenny, Kent Brockman, Dr. Hibbert, Scratchy, Otto, Rainier Wolfcastle, Jasper, Reverend Lovejoy
That's a lot of pretty major characters to lose.
