.. or something that can be twisted to mean that. Likewise, PC and 360 exclusives. The topic title is plainly a shameless attempt to grab your attention.

http://kotaku.com/5048733/capcom-swears-off-console-exclusives

"All major titles launched during the next fiscal year or thereafter will be developed as multi-platform games

So, with more and more third parties now committed to multi-platform titles leaving games like MGS4 the exception to the rule as opposed to previous gens where console specific titles where a lot more common, where does this leave the PS3 and Xbox 360? Is there any need to have two consoles on the market with so little to seperate them from each other, what benefit is there for consumers in having to spend an extra £300 so they can enjoy the dwindling number of titles exclusive to each console?

That is some totally crap blogging there. Where is the link to the rest of the document so we can find out what context this astounding line of text was in?

I'd say MGS4 was worth £300 personally.

I know what you mean. But you know the company id Interactive? Well they've created a new engine called idTech 5, which gives all things unique textures, AND, this part is relevant, its technology means the game developers using it can create their game for any platform without having to change it or do any proper porting.

The first game to use this will be called Rage, and it sounds amazing. After a few years, id are going to make the engine open-source, meaning any devs can use it.

This isn't exactly true. Haven't ID themselves gone on record as saying that the space on DVD is a problem for them?

(Well, not so much the space, as the fact that MS requires a licence fee for each disk in a multi-disk game, making multi-disk games far more expensive on the 360.0

To be honest, I don't think I'll ever both with a PS3.

God of War 3 and MGS4 just aren't worth it.

Nope of course those two games aren't worth it but throw in Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Warhawk, Little Big Planet, Valkryia Chronicles, Yakuza 3, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and inFamous then it is worth it.

I own both PS3 and 360 and at the moment I am still bitterly frustrated with the PS3. Only Uncharted and Ratchet have stood out for me. Other exclusives have sucked imo - Motorstorm, MGS4 were boring, HAZE, Lair - just bad. I quite liked Heavenly Sword and Folklore.

PS3 needs more exclusives immediately. The above is reasonable, but if Yakuza 3, Killzone 2, Resistance 2 are like their prequels I am not looking forward too much.

Use your free online service and better graphics capability to make some great games. Don't rely on BluRay and brand loyalty alone. Come on Sony its about time the PS3 started to dominate the field.

bear.
Im disappointed that you changed the title of this thread so that it has a different meaning from the original article.
Capcom didnt say PS3 exclusives make no sense They said ANY exclusives make no sense. Their last big exclusive was Dead Rising on the Xbox 360. Its a good article to bring to our attention, but changing the title to suit your 'Game Politics'* isnt being completely straight is it?!

*I coined a new phrase meaning...

Besides, I'll be getting a PS3 for Little Big Planet. Damn exclusives.

3rd party multiplatform games, and 1st party studios in decline. Getting a bit pointless owning both consoles? yes or not yet?

Competition. If there was just the 360 and the Wii, Microsoft would not be trying really hard to get really good exclusive games. Obviously there is still competition between the games, but look at the Wii and the large amounts of shovelware released. This is because the Wii is uncontested in its market share so developers are just trying to cash in on this instead of trying to make a title which will make the platform stand out from the others.

I actually quite like there not being too many exclusives, it means I can (as a student) choose the console with the exclusives I want more and then get all the really good multi-platform games. So I don't mind missing out on a couple of games if it means there is still competition between the consoles, I suppose it does help that I am not a MGS fan.
