And he definitely cheated last night. I watched him go through a door ahead, so I walked round the corner, knowing it was safe. But the bastard was magically there again.

Speedrunners have proved there's two of him.

As in, there’s meant to be? Or that they’ve exposed cheaty design?

I only caught Mr. X teleporting once. He was on the first floor and after I entered the main hall with no more than a few seconds passing, I saw him walking along the third floor balcony.

Hexx wrote:Is Hardcore that hard? (Can you change mid-game)

Hardcore just restricts saving to ink ribbons and lowers the amount of hits you can take to 2 from most enemies. As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to affect how much damage enemies take, at least not noticeably so. I've had some zombies take an absurd amount of bullets and others heads have exploded in 1-3 shots. Their health seems based on luck and crit dice rolls.

If you're considering it then I'd say go for it, I thought it only added to my enjoyment of the game overall. I think the game will give you the option to lower the difficulty if you're getting bodied.

Never died due to Mr X getting a grip of me but running from him into a Licker on my first go wasn't fun. Now I'll hunt that Licker down and kill it before triggering X, same with the Library bunch though I have shifted the book shelves before with just leaving the Z's be and keeping an ear out for Stompy boots.

Is there a recommended/canon order you should do the campaigns in? I.e. Leon A/Claire B or vice versa?

Claire A Leon B was considered canon.

But I don’t think it matters in the remake. As both scenarios still have the same thing happening. Just placements of items, codes etc have changed.

So it’s not a big thing like the original PS2 version.

Having encountered him twice now, I think Mr X is a strawberry floating great mechanic. He makes potentially safe, sedentary situations terrifying

Ok so I loved the original Resident Evil 2, easily top 5 games of all time to me.

Personally I thought Mr X was great overall. Playing through as Leon for the first time, when he showed up it really cranked things up. Because he makes you panic and have to be on the move it made the police station feel totally different and loose those feelings of familiarity is done really well.

The lab was amazing. It sounds stupid but I loved how the automatic doors were. I remember in the original there was a door in the lab that was automatic and didn't have a loading screen, which at the time blew my mind that you could walk through a door like that in a Resident Evil game. And in the remake it's not even a feature that the doors can open like that.

Loved my play through with Leon, it was a really good ride. Capcom not using 'traditonal' (in terms of the original classic trilogy) zombies for a long time in any of the mainline games made them even better this time. And the lickers look disgusting now too, in the best way.

What are the chances of them releasing the original RE2 on modern consoles?

The item dropping mechanic was gooseberry fool in this game.

 you’d rather have to leave stuff behind because you forgot to put the fire extinguisher back in the magic chest?

Yes.

Then you probably didn't get on very well with REMake's Real Survivor mode either?

Genuinely don't remember it? I loved everything about REmake

Best looking zombies ever! Not just the close ups when they chomp (amazing!) but the way they move, staggering around, bouncing off walls, the burst of speed when they get close, the way they moan and the screeching when they notice you...

I can’t get enough of this. Why wouldn’t capcom remake 3?

Reckon they'll confirm that at E3

E3 would be too early. I'd rather they announce it not too long before release like they did with this.

They’ll do 8 before 3 presumably.

I think they need a Star Wars style wipe of some of the story though. I can’t really reconcile 4 with this. I think the fact that it’s so all over the place stops me getting into the series more. I’d love them to expand out from this using the tone and characterisation it sets up.

Wouldn't be surprised if 8 was next, first person with Chris Redfield as the main character (following his appearance at the end of 7.

Then Resi 3 Remake with similar mechanics to Resi 2 Remake.

Does health actually regenerate on Assisted mode? It doesn’t feel like it.

Indeed. You really had to think about where to leave what - especially with that broken door handle and all the crimsons!

How’re you getting on with zero? The character-switching and item-dropping mechanics really make it the best classic resi, not to mention the beautiful graphics and music!

I’ve finished it several times on the Gamecube.

I like the dropping items anywhere you can. It does seem daft that you can’t drop anything in any other RE games but hey.
