That sucks. The dealers here will normally try and push you towards finance, since they get a commission, but the rebates come directly from the manufacturers who I guess prefer to have the cash all at once, at least that's how it works here.

Oh, one more thing regarding cash discounts, some car companies have them for various things like recent graduates, or members of the military etc. I think we got another $500 off since my wife had finished school within 3 years of us buying our car.

We also had very good rebates on electric cars up until about a year ago when they were done away with by the new government, something like up to $10,000 iirc.

Its efficient enough anyway

Any idea what the actual fuel efficiency is of it? Mazda seem to make it difficult to even find their advertised MPG, it isn't listed when you go into the engine details on the car customiser.

Think it’s around 40 for the 2.0 engine, around 45 for the 1.5? Recall reading a long term review ages ago and I’m sure that ended up just over 40.

Hm, that's not bad actually. Looking at the mazda website I can get a fully decked out RF for about £400/month on PCP which is nearly £100/month less than I'm already paying, so from a dealer would likely be even less. Even at increased fuel costs from 10mpg less I'd probably be about even with where I am from decreased car payments and petrol vs Diesel costs.

Was passing by what used to be a Mazda dealer so was going to pop in and look at the MX-5 but the dealer has shut down while it relocates.

There was a Ford dealer there too though so since I had the time to kill I went to take a look at my secret shameful desire, a Mustang.
Holy gooseberry fool, how is Ford financing so piss poor compared to everyone else?
For a 2.3 EcoBoost Mustang with Sat Nav and Heated/Cooling seats, 24,000 miles per year, they wanted £710/month.
My TT had the same total car cost with 25,000 miles per year yet is £489/month. The only difference was the Ford was over 3 years and the Audi over 4, but one year isn't going to make £220/month difference.

Can't you just save up and buy one outright? strawberry float paying £700 a month for something and being told you can only drive it a certain distance a year.

I just can't get my head around spending £500 a month to rent a car.

I took a 3 year loan to buy my car that was £230 per month. It's now paid off but after the new car feel had worn off after 6 months that monthly payment would always jar a little.

It's needing 25,000 miles per year the drives it up so high, since they know the value at the end will be terrible due to having between 70k-90k miles on it after 3 or 4 years.

And strawberry float paying over £25,000 and walking away with nothing.

Just had a look - they charge £865 to add satnav. Ridiculous.

If it's not a V8 it's not a Mustang as far as I'm concerned.

Oh I'd love the proper one, but yeah, that would probably require me to also move house so that I basically didn't have to drive to actually work
So the Mustang remains a pipe dream for the moment.

I looked at importing an American one before they started doing a European version, but it was going to be over £5k per year just to insure.

Seems quite overpriced but at the same time I think it looks like a really neat, slightly quirky electric car.

Have you been tempted/sold on a hybrid False?

I'm all for inclusivity but I'm not sure they should be giving the job of ok'ing car designs to blind people as has clearly happened with this monstrosity.

The interior isn't so bad, but the designer of the exterior needs to be arrested and charged for GBH due to the heinous assault my eyes have undergone.
