I'd clocked it was coming up a while back and just had to pay attention to when the moment arrived. I may have driven a few extra miles on a journey home one day just to make sure it lined up with when I arrived!

Got a letter from Mercedes today warning that the Coolant pump in the engine is at risk of catching fire so has been recalled. So it's nice to know I've been driving around with a realistically non-zero chance of suddenly seeing flames coming out of the bonnet while driving

To be fair, there's never zero chance of that happening, whatever you drive. Anything with an ICE is just a series of fires in a metal box.

True, though when the manufacturer is willing to admit "So your engine might catch fire" then you tend to worry just a bit since normally they'd do anything to deny there's an issue

That Takata airbag recall was an absolute shitshow, and affected so many manufacturers.
