Before I bought my BMW I was considering an A5 but in the end decided not to get one because we already had another Audi (an A6) and wanted something different. A neighbour bought a new A5 and after looking at it a few times I felt the looks were dated, and glad I got the 3 series coupe instead.

I suggest you give it a test drive. The A6 is absolutely lovely to drive and has a really nice cabin so I would imagine a fairly high spec A5 could be similar. I guess it comes down to what you are looking for. You may think the A5 looks great, but most of the time you will be inside so looks are really for the benefit (or envy) of others.

Definitely thinking about second hand. A 3-5 year old one, probably.

I don't think it looks quite as good as the F30 3 series, but it checks all my boxes in that it's a five door with a good boot, reasonably economical and is supposed to be a decent drive.

Nothing's set in stone yet, though. Just looking and starting to test drive a few different things.

I thoroughly enjoy the horseless carriage.

Also I need to go wash my car, I put on my summer rims a few weeks ago but since they were in storage all winter they don't look as good as they should.

I was catching up and reading in the previous car thread. I noticed some of you mentioned about Audi and for some reason I really like the new Audi A3 saloon. It looks really nice, but lately one car catch my eye is Volvo V40 R-Design.

I'd consider adding both cars on my list for my next car in the future.

I just saw an Audi A3 saloon today, actually. It doesn't look bad but it's a bit awkward.

I do like the V40, though.

Reminds me of old saloons like the E21 3 series. A small saloon that is a small saloon and not a giant boat.

If you look at most of the model ranges in recent years each model has jumped a class. 3 series is now a 5, 5 a 7 etc. Good to have a new batch of entry saloons.

Nice.

The grey colour looks the best, I think.

Drove behind one a few weeks back, I hadn't even realised they were on the road yet. Just like a baby S4 but without the stupidly huge engines. I liked it a lot. A saloon's no good for me, mind, but I think they've nailed this one.

I caught a really crap video of me entertaining myself in the Liverpool tunnel at 1am the other week

I of course only made it to 30mph, but that was more than enough for me to hear the induction going. Induction on a turbo is honestly one of my favourite noises, I love it so much. If there wasnt police sat at either end of the tunnel Id absolutely smash it through there sometime.

Unfortunately the phone mic got a bit drowned out so you cant hear the flutter as you lift off the noise pedal. But its heaven.

And my accelerator has started clicking, but Im not sure if its a problem with the switch actuation or the travel guide on the depression. Ill have to figure it out this weekend, but its driving me insane as its right at the top of the action.

Just watched for the love of cars, where they restored an Aston Martin, holy gooseberry fool it was stunning when they were done with it, and fuuuuuuck me at the price it got at auction.

The A5 I was meant to test drive today hasn't come back for whatever reason. Gutted. I was really looking forward to that.

I'm hopefully picking up a new (used) car next weekend.
Its not particularly cool, fast or expensive, so I dont expect much excitement in here over it, but I think it's a good find.

2005 corsa 1.4 5dr.
17000 miles and in the last three years it's only done about 10 miles between each MOT and kept garaged. Vauxhall service every 400/500 miles according to the book.

Immaculate inside and out.
Quite happy with it for £3000.

I don't know much about the issue, but isn't only 17k over 10 years something to be concerned about?

Not necessarily. Really depends how the car has been used and kept. Our A6 is 3 years old in October and will have done less than 6k.

Yes?
