Birds car is a shitheap and we've been working out to do with it, and I think I might have convinced her to get a new car. Frontrunner would be a Dacia Sandero Stepway.

I reckon they are dead cool. I really like these white goods cars with all the 'rugged' bits put on them. Duster looks a bit too big and standard Sandero wouldnt stand up to her enthusiatic parking style. Kind of want one myself.

I'd go with the Honda personally. I've owned two Hondas (an '08 Jazz and a '04 CRV) and they've both been solid as anything, as well as ticking boxes for efficiency, practicality, and actually being quite nice to drive. Also - take a look at what you see out on the roads, you'll always see a strawberry float tonne of old Hondas still happily cruising the roads of the UK - by contrast the Kuga has been around since '08 and I can't recall the last time I saw one more than 4-5 years old actually out and about.

Honestly have to say that I think the Honda Jazz has been the best car I've ever owned - I strawberry floating loved the Jazz! It was a joy to drive, built like a TARDIS (the amount of things we managed to fit into it was insane, particularly thanks to the clever ways you could fold the seats), and never seemed to have single thing go wrong with it - we had to replace it with something larger a few years back as we needed a 7 seater for kids, but even on its last MOT at 7 years old it was as solid as the day it rolled off the production line.

I only ever see the Blue Rinse Brigade driving Honda Jazzes. Old people's car, can't shake that stigma.

Finally got a car last month. Oldsmobile Alero, 2002. Bit small, but it's okay for a starter. Now just need to pass the driving test.

V6, IIRC. Motor was changed out at some point, so I'm not sure on the mileage - 150k is what registers on the dash. Seems in pretty decent shape overall, and only cost us $1,200.

The only problem is water appears to be leaking into the front of the car on the driver's side, from above - but the door's fine, as is the windshield, and the seal around the hood looks good too. Nevertheless, we keep finding water (no coolant smell) soaking the floor and pooling on the floor mats we bought. Gonna have to sit in the car during a heavy downpour and look around to see where it's dripping from.

Is it only when it's raining? Is the A pillar damp as well? If so it could be the seal around the windshield/ or frame is cracked somewhere. Go to a hardware store and get a tube of clear silicone calk, then after wiping down the windshield and A pillars to get rid of any dirt and dust, apply the silicone gel.

I had the same issue with an old car and I was able to fix it.

Buying a car with a rebuilt engine isn't generably advisable. Hopefully it won't be an issue, but it could indicate a lack of care in driving or maintenance.

I assume it's only when it's raining, and the A pillar has no obvious signs of leakage anywhere. It had to have silicone applied to it to firm up a seal that was coming away at the top, but I don't see how water could go from outside to inside through there without leaving a mark - we've tried pouring water over the area and nothing seems to get through.

Ive always secretly wanted an Audi Alltrack. The Sandero Stepway is the same kind of cool.

The Kuga won't get delivered until November, the Tucson's boot was a weird shape, the CR-V has a huge back end, so it's looking like a Qashquai. The N-Connecta trim, hopefully.
