I was going to make a joke about the dump valve before I decided on the speakers

Looks lovely, in pictures they look like the size of a big hatchback rather than a coupe, what's it like? Are you happy wth it? I'd love one but I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get an estate or SUV.

Thankyou. Size is definitely bigger than a hatch but smaller than a 3 series, I would say. I love it and I hate it. I am totally in love with how stupid it is but I hate driving in traffic jams after work and I hate how much fuel it uses (and it only takes 99+ which means I have to really plan my journeys around fuel availability). Its nowhere even close to a comfortable ride, its mega firm and jiggly. I would not recommend this car to anybody, but I think thats the best way. If you are strawberry floating stupid you'll get one regardless of what anyone says

Its also very expensive to keep, insure and service etc. I have a service next week (20k) and its £390.

That doesn't sound too bad to be honest, I think my next service will be £500+ and possibly 4 new tyres. Not even sure what size they are by I'm guessing run flats for 19" alloys aren't going to be cheap

I think the servicing is expensive because Subaru just charge a lot. Have you compaed prices with independents? In my experience the Subaru dealerships are not very knowledgeable on the BRZ and there are some good independents out there.

I have to go to Subaru for mine. They only do digital service books now and the terms of my warranty dictate that if I want it to be upheld I have to have approved services at the appropriate intervals (every 10k).

Same here. I've not used anyone else but I will if I still have the car at its 5 year anniversary. If you look into the warranty you will find that you can actually use someone else by law, I think it just needs to be a VAT registered garage.

I'm paying £120 for my manufacturer's service and MOT next month, because I happen to work for the company doing it.

I think if I still have this car come its fifth birthday Id be having the engine out and a closed deck block with new studs, fancy turbo all that gooseberry fool - and the manufacturers warranty would have already ceased to be an issue. The STI only gets 3 years.

One other thing worth remembering is that Subaru dealerships do not stick to the same price for servicing. I found a difference of around £100 between 3 so took the cheapest for my 2nd service. It did mean about another 20 miles but the closest dealership to me is about 20 miles anyway so in for a penny etc

Anyway, 21000 mile service today. Got it into the garage at 21002 miles. I really let myself down.

Got another Volvo S80 courtesy car. I hate it, its like driving a sofa, but its funny. Honestly was driving to work in v heavy traffic but just wasnt bothered. Its not a fast car and isnt made to give any kind of that feedback so you just drive it so casually like you dont give a strawberry float. I can see merit in that.

I remember seeing an interview with Lewis Hamilton a few years back, saying he drove (at the time) something strawberry floating godawful like a Cadillac Escalade or something for that very reason.

If I won the Euromillions, obviously I'd have a Ferrari 488 and an RS6 on order asafp, but where would you actually get to drive them properly anyway? If I did more miles than I do, I could definitely see the value in getting something squidgy like a Volvo or a Merc.
