Milestone achieved, clocked over to 50,000 miles on my drive home tonight. :toot: Given this thing had only done 23k when I bought it 1.5 years ago I'm not sure it was expected this!

i put 41k on the subaru before i sealed it up, fair shake of the stick

good car, best thing on a b-road in the world, fight me

there will never be anything like it on the roads again given current trends and regulations

It is in desperate need of a clean that's for sure.

I'm surprised you managed to drive that far considering how gash the traffic is every time I go to Exeter...

The Old Firehouse though. :datass:

the mechanical grip on offer is obscene, lsd with wide track, low suspension, and pilot sport 4 tyres - its way way faster than you'd ever think or really believe - when you are on a b-road on the move and decide to boot it, it feels basically as fast as the subaru but just fizzy instead of a rally machine

they both tackle the same roads at amazing speeds but approach it totally differently - the sti you would feel the adrenaline from just how raw and aggressive it was, and this you get the adrenaline because it feels completely terrifying lmao - i think it gets exciting more easily because the limits are so much easier to reach on a real road

i smashed the arse out of it on some of my favourite roads today and the front end sensation is not at all what you'd expect - the sti is set up to understeer when you go too hard and the nose gets heavy, but pushing just as hard (or what felt like harder) in this it hasnt washed out once, and honestly at this stage in my ownership im not really prepared to push it much harder just yet, it feels like its right on the raggedy edge

its a shame i didnt have a chance to try and get back to back videos but ill have to try and borrow a go pro or something to show the pace this is capable of

downsides: trying to find the perfect seating position so far is proving elusive, a complaint every journalist seems to have - and the apple carplay thing is skipping but the internet is really no help in that regard

the pedal position for heel toe is weird

oh and also

Image

without even trying

so in conclusion, twice the mpg on the cheaper fuel, £45 p/m less tax, £50+ p/m less insurance, and £100 p/m less to buy - doesnt feel as rock solid hewn from granite, but does feel very exhilarating

overall i think a good buy, and maybe in 5 years ill have another stripped out scooby garage queen

peace

That actually looks great! Sounds like you’re very happy with it too :toot:

Is the seating position more down to height of the driver or just an awkward position?

It's actually a lovely looking little thing. As a kid, I used to cast admiring glances at my neighbour's 1.9 205 GTi. I'm pleased to see Peugeot get its mojo back.

That looks great, and it sounds like it has a lot more performance than you'd expect from just looking at it.

I'm slightly peeved by it having better MPG than my shitbox.

thanks dudes, yeah its good

it seems pretty under the radar for what it is, apart from the orange... but in time id like to get a little more from it

it has a very active tuning community - seems to share some parts with the bmw 1.6 or something? so id like to maybe put a valved exhaust system in so it stays quiet around town but has a button for b-roads, put the big intercooler in there so the fans arent quite as loud on a hot day, and the bigger intake system - all in time of course

im thinking of smaller wheels too, bit more compliance and i honestly think they suit the look better

no rush :)

I don’t know why all cars/manufacturers are pushing the limits for wheel size anyway? I always think they look better with a bit more tyre rather than straight to alloy, also means on the off chance you do hit a curb doesn’t mean a massive mark on the alloy but rather the tyre, also ride comfort is compromised somewhat and on some of the awful British roads this could be quite evident. Of course there’s a happy medium but on anything remotely sporty these days they seem to just want bigger alloys.

saw the harrys garage vid a few mins ago

it convinced me, preorder down

--

my car has a windscreen leak, looks like a factory issue with the seals, so - to be expected - anyway the seller has paid for the cost of getting it done so that'll be sorted tomorrow if the weather is cool
