You just have to be careful as if the poo acid has eaten through the clear coat then all you’ll be doing is chewing through the paint that remains

Still shopping around, might be trying to tick too many boxes with what I want.
  • <10 years old
  • <£15k (ideally around £10-12k)
  • Petrol
  • 4+ doors
  • Not slow
  • bonus points if there's enough space to sleep in it for the occasional camping trip
Considering Focus ST, Octavia VRS, 3 Series Touring, maybe a Seat Leon Estate (Cupra). I do like the idea of a sporty estate even if I don't need all that space most of the time.

Feels like half the results I get for the above criteria are Nismo Jukes... who bought all of these??

Last time I was thinking about changing car, Jukes kept coming up for me too. I think it was because I was specifying fairly swift 0-60 times, and they seemed to rank surprisingly high there.

They did a Nismo Juke?

I’ve consigned myself to the fact I’ll be running my Civic till it’s ready for the scrap yard, can’t actually choose what I’d want next, used car prices still seem overly high as well.

Nismo Juke. :dread:

They're horrible looking cars.

Today, I've been browsing cars at Volvo garage and I'm tempted by the Volvo S60 B5. :shifty:

Also the new EX30 is pretty looking car too. It's a full electric vehicle and the interior is neat I thought.

Definitely feels like there's less choice out there if you're not spending mega money now. I have considered sticking with my partner's old econobox and just running that for as long as possible. My 5 year fixed mortgage is up at the end of the year, so I could stick my new car money into that to help tackle the +50% monthly payments incoming. But that might be a little too sensible for my liking.

Ford is no longer making Focus by the end of 2025.

They have ended:
Escort
Fiesta
Mondeo
Focus

I think it is such shame as they do make great cars like ST or RS, and now there will be no more hot hatch cars by Ford unless they make one differently.

The Nismo juke isn’t a real Nismo, it’s more of a trim level than a performance experience, on top of being so hideous

There are so many because the juke is one of the top selling cars of the last decade or so

Still got the Ford Puma ST though :datass:

I jest, but I think the Puma is the one SUV/crossover type cars I'd actually have if I had to, its not great but I don't find it anywhere near as offensive as some of them, I do see one being driven by an absolute lunatic every morning when I go to work which does put me off a little  It is a huge shame how many of their cars they have stopped making though, what do they sell (brand new) now still? Puma, Kuga, Mustang and Transit vans? Part of me would love a Fiesta ST, but then you read about how many are stolen or parts nicked off them and it just doesn't seem worth it :(

So can we hate even more on the Juke Nismo with how many of Ford's iconic range they've killed off due to how well its sold?

I test drove a 2016 Focus ST at the weekend. Quite an enjoyable drive, definitely a car I could live with.

That particular example maybe not though, one of the rear door seals was hanging off and as a result the carpet was wet and the whole car smelled of damp. I know the seals are a known problem with that gen of Focus and had they offered to do anything about it I may have still been tempted, but the sales guy couldn't give a strawberry float. He seemed more fixated on the fact I told him I was looking at a few different cars and refused to give a part-ex quote until I'd decided I definitely wanted this one. I guess he decided I wasn't a serious buyer so didn't want to waste his precious time on me.

I was also looking at the Focus RS prices... A good 10k over my budget but they do seem to hold their value very well, and I guess they'll continue to do so since Ford isn't making any more. If I really stretched my finances I could probably get one, but I feel like sitting on the drive here it'll either be nicked or vandalised in no time. Not that there aren't more expensive cars around, but it does stand out a bit :slol:

I had two Fiesta ST (reg 06 and 63) cars in the past and I never had an issue with being nicked or stolen. I wished I had kept one of them now, but never mind.

I hate the Juke and I think it is an ugly car.

I might still end up with an ST to be honest, I just can't decide what I want for my next car

My company used to do focus’ as company cars, and there wasn’t one of them out of the hundreds that didn’t have the rear door seals broken or hanging out

It’s basically a design feature
