Any other GR parents who find themselves watching stuff on CBeebies as a result of their kids doing so?

I understand it's content aimed for young children but I can't help but find I form strong opinions on the shows

Wanted to see if I'm the only one though before I launch into a tirade of how Octonauts takes itself too seriously, Peter Rabbit is the same episode over and over, and Hey Duggie is reminiscent of classic era Simpsons in its quality.

My Cbeebies days are mostly in the past now as mine are starting to get older but yeah you definitely do develop an attachment to and set of opinions on the shows on there!

Octonauts is srs bsns, Captain Barnacles is saving the ocean FFS! :capnscotty:

One of the interesting things I've found when talking to other parents is the effect of just how short lived the lifespan of many of these shows is. You've got things like In The Night Garden and the Bedtime Story which seem to stick around for ages as touchpoints for everyone to talk about but then other shows might only last a year or thereabouts and so you find yourself talking to people who have no idea what show you're going on about!

Something about Hey Duggee rubs me up the wrong way. The voice acting I find weird. The accents are so over exaggerated that it sort of feels a little belittling.
And it’s too full on.
I usually try to steer my little boy in the direction of less bombastic programmes. JoJo & Grangran, Octonauts, etc.

Not a parent and my sister hasn't watched it in a while now but my friend recently had a little girl and when I met up with them the other day she was watching it on TV which reminded me. God damn Peppa Pig is a complete and utter bitch. She is insufferable as a character and she treats her friends and everyone around her like gooseberry fool. How is this a good character for kids to be learning from?

The show is also fat shaming Daddy Pig all the time which also makes me question how this is a good show for kids.

My son has a Peppa Pig book like this and my wife delights in saying "just like your Daddy!" because of my lockdown timber :x

Peppa Pig sets an awful example to children. She behaves terribly all the time and from what I understand about the show never gets any comeuppance.

Channel 5, some of the Nickelodeon channels and Netflix.

I quite like Peppa, she doesn't take any gooseberry fool.

My niece and nephew watched some Peppa pig when they came once. One episode had Daddy Pig getting a parking ticket because he thought it would be okay to park in a no parking zone. As soon as he got home, the postman (Mr Zebra) delivered a letter containing details of the fine. Then straight after that, the police arrive and give Daddy Pig a lesson about not parking in a no parking zone. The parking attendant then shows up and gives the Police a ticket because they had brought the no parking sign with them.

Utterly strawberry floating ridiculous.

The most ridiculous thing is the idea that the police could be held accountable for their actions.

So this is what it feels like when doves cry

Peppa Pig is actually a fairly funny show where all the supporting characters are quite fun and there are some decent jokes, but the main character is an absolute dumpster fire of a child. Same with Bing and his "FLOOOOOOOP, THE WORLD ISN'T EXACTLY HOW I WANT IT TO BE AND IT'S NOT FAIR!"

Numberblocks is amazing (especially the Star Wars and Indy episodes). Alphablocks is god awful.

Something Special is one of the most heartwarming shows on TV. The kids on it absolutely lose their gooseberry fool whenever they meet Justin/Mr Tumble  It also shows why the BBC is important because Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon et al seemingly have zero programming specifically aimed at and including disabled kids, but they don't have Farage on every day of the week so BaN tEh LisEnSe FeE!

If I was a young girl I'd give up on STEM in protest at the condescending shite that is Bitz and Bob (STEAMPINK STYLE :dread: )

Sarah and Duck is great and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise.

I've got a lot of time for Go Jetters, mainly because the theme is a pure disco banger:

They make a joke about Ryder funding everything by selling Paw Patrol merch in the movie. :dread:
