A lady at work was telling me about her niece meeting Bruce Willis a few months ago. Her niece was on a plane and was sat close to Mr Willis, but she had no idea who he was. She gathered that he was somebody famous by the way he was treated by the airline staff, so she took a sneaky photo so she could find out who it was when she landed.

That made me wonder, have the residents of GRcade had such thrilling celebrity encounters while out and about?

I am very unobservant when I am out and about and have a terrible memory for faces, so can only remember three.

Back in 1995 ( ) I was at Glastonbury Festival and a mate managed to get me backstage. Oasis had just finished performing and Liam Gallagher walked past me and gave me the V sign (the peace version, not the strawberry float off version).

At the same festival, Mark Lamarr almost ran me over while he was driving a golf buggy. I think he was presenting the Channel 4 coverage that year. The prick didn’t even apologise or acknowledge me. :x

A few years ago (way before he became a dwarf or took his top off for the BBC), I was drinking outside a pub and Aidan Turner walked past. I recognised him from Being Human and said hello. He said hello back.

Can anybody beat those exciting stories?

Walking in Cheltenham town I nearly walked into Patrick Stewart (didn't realise it was him)
Did the silent, but automatic, "left, right, no left...No I'll go left" steps with him then passed.
Then realised it was Patrick Stewart after he'd gone.

Might not have been him actually.

I walked behind Richard E Grant at the airport once. It was an incredible experience as I'm sure you can imagine.

My daughter goes to the same nursery as the children of Romesh Ranganathan (the comedian), so I've seen him there a couple of times. He was a teacher at my school (after I'd left), so I've always got that card ready to play should conversation ever occur!

As a young lad, I had my photo taken with Paul Walsh (Charlton FC) and Brian Talbot (Arsenal FC) outside their respective football grounds. Footy fans will recognise that this is going back a bit :dread: .

I did go to school with a couple of semi (barely) celebrities. They were not famous at the time though.

Jenny Jones was an Olympic Bronze medal winning snowboarder who was in my year at school. I don’t remember her at all though.

I was friends with Nathan Filer who was also in my year at school. He won the Costa Book of the Year prize a few years ago and has a blue tick on Twitter and his own Wikipedia page, so he counts as a celeb…. :shifty:

I've spoke to Prince Edward, I think that's my best one because it's simultaneously incredibly impressive to a lot of americans and incredibly underwhelming to a lot of brits.

Oh my brother has a signed photo from Rolf Harris too

There was also a time when my mum recognised an NHL player in a morrison's car park (he was playing for Coventry during an NHL lockout year), and in her panic got him to sign the front cover of that year's Beano annual (a traditional present for my brother at Christmas).

My dad was giving me a lift to sixth form and had pulled over around the corner from our house so I could run back and get something I'd forgot. I came back and saw a scruffy geezer with a guitar sticking his head through the passenger window. He pulled his head out and started along my way, and as he got closer I realised he was Pete Doherty. I was a Libertines fan so did the whole hello handshake big fan thing. I got back to my dad, who asked if I knew that man (clearly very worried I was falling into the skag in hindsight!) I told him who he was, and my dad recounted that Doherty had stuck his head in the window because he thought my dad was a taxi driver and wanted to go to Waterloo station.

I can think of a few:

I interviewed Roald Dahl briefly when I was 12 for RTE radio after winning a competition.

Damien Dempsey (singer over here) was literally my next door neighbour growing up. I also went to same school as 3 of the members of bewitched, and 2 members of boyzone.

I got Martin Skrtels autograph for my wife (she's a big fan of his and Kuyt - dont ask) after a pre-season friendly over here.

I met the Magic Numbers after they an impromptu gig celebrating Arthurs day in a pub in Dublin.

Met John Barnes in Liverpool and after a talk he did with Jan Molby in Dublin, both of them seemed sound. Also seen some Brookside actors in same Liverpool bar I met John Barnes in.

Seen Gabriel Byrne walking down O'Connell street in Dublin in a big black mac coat.

More recently RTE news presenter Sharon Ni Bheolain was behind me in traffic a couple of weeks ago. She's a stunner!

Skinhead guy who went out with Fizz in Coronation Street tried to get off with my gf back in the day.

I've dated girls who have had 'encounters'. One dated Jason McAteer briefly, another had been banging a hollyoaks goon.

That's all I can think of off top of my head.

When he was a kid, my brother won a “design a Christmas card” competition. He had the option of a variety of prizes and chose a tent and sleeping bag. The presentation was done by David Bellamy, who shook his hand and gave him his prizes.

As far as I know, there was no molesting.

When I was 11 we were at a medieval fair, my brother and I bought a wooden sword and shield each, I of course had to be the usual big brother and take my bullying too far. Whilst my brother was cowering behind his shield, Richard O'Brien walked by picked up my brother's sword and said "I'll defend your honour" he then proceeded to disarm me and make me feel guilty about bullying my brother...what a banana split.

At least I'll always have I once had a sword fight with Richard O'Brien as an ice breaker.

Did he put his tent pole in his sleeping bag?

I worked with a guy who use to live with Carl Barat. Not sure how he was in such good health!

Used to see lots of big names back when i was attending race meetings at the likes of Silverstone & Thruxton.

Most were F1 related such as Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Jackie Stewart etc, but occasionally other celebs would show up like Mel C or Atomic Kitten.

The key information we are missing is whether Stewart looked fat and/or depressed.

I've served Norman Cook and Zoe Ball at work. Joe Wilkinson shops where I work, although I haven't seen him for a while so he may have moved house. Also at work I've seen Neil Ruddock, Mark Little (used to be in Neighbours) and Graham Cole (played Tony Stamp in The Bill).

I've met the Kings of Leon at a signing in HMV and I've stood behind Glenn Hoddle in the queue to get into Thorpe Park. I also saw Matt Le Tissier at Heathrow Airport back in April. I walked past Liam Gallagher in Harrods once and I've seen Chris Eubank several places in town.

I've met a number of former Blackburn players and managers in the past including Brad Friedel, Robbie Savage, Roque Santa Cruz, Tugay, David Dunn, Andy Cole, Mark Hughes, Graeme Souness and Ronnie Clayton (who played for us in the 50's and 60's and made 35 caps for England, 5 of which were as captain.
