Hollow Knight is definitely a better metroidvania game

But the real question is, which is a better Smash (party) game?

You can play as Madeline in Towerfall, sooo...

(Also I imagine ‘hand over the controller with every death’ might be quite fun.)

I think you'd spend more time passing the controller around than playing the game

Just finished Chapter 9. Great stuff, but that last section was a bitch. 1141 deaths kek. Woulda been nice if it had the bird symbol on the level like the hearts when you finish it. It shows a bird in the logbook but not on the level but meh. Onto the C-sides I guess. Was really hoping they wouldn't be much harder than that, but I fear they may be harder...

Chapter 9 is harder than the C-sides imo. I'm surprised you did it in that order even.

STORY COMES FIRST

Just went back to this today to finish up Core C-side. Fun stuff. Curious to see other peoples' death counts. I think mine are pretty high (oof). All I've got left are 1 strawberry from chapters 5 and 7 which I just cannot find at all. Spent probably a good hour looking for em.

Although now I've got Variant Mode. Is it just to beat the level without dying? Because strawberry float that if it is. Ain't nobody gat taam fo dat

Deathless berries are the golden ones that appear at the start of chapters and are not listed, so you just haven't found them yet.
Pro tip: when replaying a chapter, if you pause the game you can see at the bottom of the screen which berries you have and haven't collected and, more importantly, in which sub-chapter those berries are.

Yes I'm aware they're different from the regular ones. I'm also aware of the strawberry timeline at the bottom. Thanks.

I thought you thought the goldens might be the ones you were missing. Just to be super clear: those are extra, so Chapter 1 for instance (with its two golden strawberries) would list 22/20 strawberries if you got every single one.

Yes I'm aware they're extra. Thanks. Cool to know there's more than just finishing the level with no deaths though.

+1, that article is fantastic.

No idea what that school ground game is though and I'm still not able to imagine it

I'm glad and relieved you guys enjoyed it! I mainly wrote it late last year, and had a quick re-read on Friday before it came out on Saturday and nearly gagged on cringe and pedantic perfectionism.

But t's gone down well! Especially glad when people who like the game like the piece!

Thanks for reading :D

P.S. The school game is less a game than a sort of lo-fi way of making your muscles move in ways independent to your intent - school-day tripping.

Very neat. I certainly noticed some of these during play. Definitely didn't know about the 'refunding' final one though! Good attention
