Cleared the hotel this morning. Something very jet set Willy about the place.

I think I'm near the end of the first play (I've got several b side tapes so I assume there's plenty of post game content).

Just got knocked off the mountain right to the bottom, and I'm currently making my way back up.

I've put about 60 hours in to it and still haven't done everything

That level's my fave! Those synths. Those pink shards. The crystalline pools of water. That power-up!

I (obviously) love Celeste and the main campaign is the heart of it. But it's in the B-Sides and beyond that I felt the ideas and mechanics were allowed to fully flourish to their full potential, and be stretched beyond what you could imagine could be done with them (and what you imagine could be asked of you!)

Meanwhile I adore Celeste and never really tried the B-Sides. :shifty:

Honestly? I do like the gameplay a lot, but I liked it because I had something to work towards - and not just 'the end of the level', but something story-wise. I'm worried that without that, and without the strawberries to make me feel good along the way, the B-sides will break me. Meanwhile Chapter 9 just looks too hard.

I've got something special with Celeste, and I don't want to ruin it.

It's a game all about overcoming what you thought was impossible, but there's nothing wrong with calling it where you want either. With a bit of perseverance the B-sides are very rewarding if you do keep at it! There are also some (already existing) mechanics/moves in the moveset still to be properly introduced by the end of the main game, which is a bit mad.

How much did you put into trying to get optional strawberries during the main game? I always think that if players just stick to only what's needed to get through each stage then you won't have come up against anything that challenging before the end. Going after optional stuff helps to stretch you a bit in preparation for the B Sides!

I think I had about 55 strawberries and 5 bside tapes by the end, although I stopped going for the tougher collectibles in the last few levels, as I was finding those tough enough as it was.

I got what felt like a fair way through the first B-side, but by then I had decided to start hitman so it was never going to stand a chance. I'll definitely go back to it at some point, as it feels like one you can revisit.
