I'm stuck on like the 3rd or 4th main screen  I am so rusty, I need to go over all the boost jumps and wall jumps again.

This game

I am super rusty, so jumping straight into this was a struggle, but I've got a fair way - just reached the checkpoint where the classical styled music kicks in (after the area with all the keys/key blocks). Clouds have always been my nemesis in this game so this is a good point to stop for the night

Only just watched these. That 7 is beautiful, and that final scrolling screen burned into my memory

And done... god damn, that final room took me probably at least 50 minutes. It's like they looked at jawa and his zero-checpoint policy in AYAMMM as an inspiration.

Final time and death count:
Time: 3:27:35.849

Deaths: 1093

Amazing work OSC, I'm certainly going to be way over those numbers. This chapter seems to be going on forever! And now I'm dreading the final room

Thanks.
Don't worry about the numbers. The higher they go the more you're learning!

Do dread that final room though.

Progressive spoilerboxes follow (1st is vague, 2nd less so, 3rd even less so, etc. until the final one spoils the whole damn thing) regarding my :dread: above:

There's more to the final room of the chapter than there seems to be at first glance.

There's a whole 'nother final challenge. Yay!

It's accessible only after turning off the electricity at the end.

Weren't there some platforms back there?

Full solution:
Perform the 2nd dash into the electric box on the left side of it, then immediately start moving left and dash onto the floating block to the left.
Follow the path upwards. It's long and it gets a bit tricky and there are no checkpoints so be careful.
Yay, you did it! Now... wait, what? Where do I go now? It's a minor puzzle. Separate inline spoiler below this one for the solution.

Go up into the next room, then drop down on the right. Touch the spike to die and respawn at the entrance to the final challenge. The rest is up to you. Good luck.

I've reached the point where the coloured platforms on timers come back. Surely I can't be far off the end now? This chapter is going on forever!

That is definitely closer to the ending than the area before it.

That's even closer!

Really good area. It brings together all the new mechanics in nice, sorta-bite-sized challenges. There are so many new mechanics and they're all either good or amazing. Actually there's only like two or three new mechanics (jellyfish, explody fish and bird), but they're utilized so thoroughly and effectively that it feels like a lot more.

I know it's technically not but wavedashing may as well be called a new mechanic, all things considered

Not sure if this plays into the main narrative at all or is just a super cool little added bonus thing.

For those who aren't getting it, that's a trans pride flag in the first zoomed pic, a picture of what appears to be a pre-transition male Madeline in the second and a bottle of pills in the third tl;dr Madeline is trans.

It just takes perseverance. It's demoralizing for sure to get a ways in and then die, especially if you've been playing for a while (take regular breaks!), but the more you do it the better you get at the early parts and get far in more and more consistently.

Seems intentionally ambiguous on the developer's part. Madeline is probably on some kind of medication for anxiety. And that picture could mean she was a boy, or it could just mean she had short hair when she was a child.

Certainly puts a cool, different spin on the adventure if it is true though.

Is the DLC brutally difficult? I beat the main game and the additional core chapter. Is it beyond my skill level?

Love this story telling device because it's left open enough for people to think what they want (pills could easily be anti-depressants, photo is a-gendered).

However, she is undeniably an ally. If she is trans, the story gains new weight through the added layer of the turbulent and convoluted internal emotional journey that those transitioning experience.

It's at least on the level of the B and C sides, and it's gated halfway so you need to complete them anyway
