Then I read the comments. I know, I know...

Glad you enjoyed! I'm not sure many of the comments folk read the article, so much as just used it as an excuse to debate the game in the comment section. But I'm grateful to any of the silent majority (I hope?!) who read and get any interest from it!

Like you! Thanks :D

And was chuffed that the creator Matt Thorson re-tweeted it (hopefully because he liked it) too! https://twitter.com/MattThorson

Almost makes it worth how difficult and perfectionist and all-consuming I sometimes find it to write the things!

Almost.

In other news: I love the 8-bit B-side ditties (you can get play the whole album of them on streaming services btw!), and am pretty sure Reflection is the best right? It hits so hard! I'd go to a gig that let me move to that on loop man.

Eh, I really really like the game’s soundtrack (it’s one of very few that I have on my iPhone), but one of the things I really like in it is the instrumentation. The bleepy-bloops don’t do it for me so much.

The original B-side Reflection, though? With tribal chanting?

Yes please.

Are the 8-bit versions in game? I don't recall the one above (but do the version Balla posted)

I think I missed out on some of the music due to playing a fair amount of Celeste on the bus

Dude for such an obviously big fan of the game...you need to fix that ASAP.

Check out the piano collection too - https://scarletmoonrecords.bandcamp.com ... ep-celeste

They're on the screens in which you get the B-Side cassettes (with the blue/pink alternating rhythm blocks) and then on the last screen of each B-Side (once again with blue/pink and rhythm action blocks).

I definitely agree with Balladeer that the soundtrack in general is Aces and the instrumentation feels full and layered and rich.

But I'm also a sucker for the crisp, percussive and purified vibe of a good 8-bit and some of them in the game are brilliant! Especially because you play along to the beat for those screens.

Shout out also to the B-Side remixes (which are not done by Lena Raine I Don't believe) which are often as good as the A-Side stuff, though very varied in style and tone: Jazzy Mirror Temple is a more welcoming Mirror Temple for sure. And the B-Side Golden Ridge is feel-good euphoria man.

You’re right, the only one she did was the Summit remix - which is, frankly, bobbins.

Ya not a highlight.

Also: I've accidentally stumbled on to that link in your signature OrangeRKN, of you recounting your games of the year and talking about Celeste - was a great summary! ('Optimistically Difficult') and a fun listen so thanks

The B-side tracks are coming to vinyl, will complement my strawberry red/aurora blue main OST vinyls perfectly :datass:

Ah cool, I do recall them, I guess those screens just don't have much time spent on them so the music didn't get in my head

Turns out people do sometimes click on signatures! Thanks for listening :toot:

Dan (who hosted that chat) is still uploading various people's lists, the latest also has celeste at number one

Thought I found the Crystal Heart in Chapter 6 (Reflections), but noooo, it was just a secret room with indie characters like Meat Boy in it

The screen where the old lady and the broken lift are...take a look above there. It's pretty fiddly

It has cameos from the Towerfall characters as well.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

That's very cool!

It's not Meat Boy though, it's Ogmo from Jumper, although that game inspired Meat Boy and he is unlockable in it [/internetresearch]
