Started this last night. It doesn’t hang around, does it?! Enjoying the challenge already. I usually go full-on exploring, but I reckon this one will be a get-to-the-end, then replay for collectibles.
In this 2017 GDC session, Celeste lead developer Matt Thorson touches on a range of topics through the tools and process of designing 300+ hardcore platformer stages for 'Celeste', arranging the sprawling area maps that make up the mountain, and weaving story elements through its game world.

Oh wow, this looks cool. I can't wait to watch it after work. Thanks for linking!

Currently binging on GDC talks and was happy to find it myself.
I finished watching it last night and I really enjoyed it. I think they definitely achieved some of the things he described in the talk.
However I didn't realise that the talk was being given before release. I'd recommend playing through Celeste as much as you can before watching. You'll find yourself nodding as he describes how he wants the player to feel at different levels and story chapters.
Got this last night and am enjoying it so far. Not done too much, just the first chapter I believe, but I like how it gets you straight in to working things out for yourself. I died a billion times just testing out what I could do, and I'm still making errors, but it's good to have a challenge. Seems like there are lots of hidden areas to explore too.
I'll get a bit more stuck in after work, but am looking forward to it.
Bloody loving this game. I finished chapter 6 yesterday. The plot is smart, and the platforming is perfect - just the right mix of difficult and compelling. Making sure I don’t play more than a chapter a day though, because when I stop I find that I’ve been gripping the pad pretty hard.
