As this is cross platform can PC gamers play in the same room as an Xbox gamer? Does this mean Avatars coming to PC?

Not sure if anyone picked up on this from the video, but you cannot walk around with your avatar. You just use the camera to toggle between rooms/cabinets. A bit of a letdown.

I no longer look through entire threads, only read the last page.

Yeah.

:'(

Games will be presented in 1080p (because that's why you bought that HD set) and will support multiplayer for up to two players, as well as cross-platform leaderboards and Achievements. Microsoft's Home Game Room is slated to launch this spring.

I love the way they try to get points for that bullshit when half the XBLA games aren't in 1080p, let alone the retail releases.

So you don't actually waste time walking around to get to each arcade room or game. Excellent :)

This isn't really Microsoft's version of Home at all.

Yup, they've said there'll be new releases every week.

The company built a virtual arcade within Xbox Live stuffed with original arcade games from the '70s through the '90s. To make them accurate, it tracked down original arcade setups on places like eBay and employee homes.
...
It will have at least 30 games, such as "Centipede," when it debuts in March. All can be sampled free. You can buy copies for $3 for Xbox versions, $3 for PC versions or $5 for both. Or you can pay 50 cents to play until you lose.

Quite right Suzz, they could one up Sony hugely by having it be corss platform for no extra.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Not so much to one up Sony, but just that people who have a 360 at home but at work they have a PC and lunch times could be spent playing from work at no extra cost.

Ah, I was referring to tempting PC gamers onto LIVE more, but yours is a good point too.

Microsoft Re-Charging For Game Room Arcade Games
At this year's CES convention, Microsoft unveiled its plan to create an Xbox Live Game Room where you can go and play arcade classics. Through the years we've had ample opportunities to play cherished titles like Tempest – perhaps you've already bought some of those games via Xbox Live Arcade. Now, the 360's Game Room is going to make you pay for them again.

Any Game Room arcade titles that you may have already bought as Xbox Live Arcade games won't transfer over to the Game Room, which is due this spring. We talked to a Microsoft representative on the topic, who told us that the company considers the Game Room titles different from their XBLA counterparts because they are the original versions and not "revamped" like those on XBLA. Game Room games will cost between 240 and 400 MS points, so even though you may have to buy them a second time, they should at least be cheaper than those you've already bought.

strawberry float that MS. strawberry float that.

I'm not paying more points on games I already own on the 360. I hope that gamers everywhere boycott this gooseberry fool.

I'd always thought that whatever content I bought on XBL would be mine forever, that when the Xbox 720 or a handheld device came along that used the service that I'd be able to download and play the games that I already owned.

This announcement makes me realise that I was expecting too much of Microsoft. Twats.
