The 48-year-old, who's sister Laura is married to Russell, re-shared his video statement to deny the allegations – the specific details of which are yet to come to light – on her Instagram story.

She added a GIF of a red beating heart above the clip, to show she is behind the comedian after he denied the "litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks" which had been put to him by a newspaper and TV programme.

Didn't know they were now related.

Will that "public support" hold up past 10:30pm.

Absolutely shocked to see a GB News presenter display a complete lack of moral fibre.

This article / headline was written in 2015:

Russell Brand has endorsed Labour – and the Tories should be worried

I'm just catching up on this story - have the details from the newspaper/TV investigation been passed on to the police, then?

I don’t know. If not, I expect they will be. But the damning fact is that the police weren’t the first to investigate it, either because they’re bloody useless, or because the allegations weren’t reported to them (because they’re bloody useless).

I'm trying to read what I can about the allegations but it appears - only from what I've seen so far - that the people involved had not notified the police.

I'm not, of course, "victim blaming" here; the allegations sound truly shocking and I hope they are quickly investigated. However, I'm not gonna "police blame" either - unless evidence to the contrary is shared, of course.

But that’s what I’m saying. If something like this happens and the victims are more willing to talk to the press than the police, it’s a messed up situation.

Some of the allegations are of crimes that took place in America as well. It's a very fair question to ask why women in the UK and US feel like they can't report things to the police.

Some of the reasons will be personal of course and not necessarily anything against the police. It can take years before victims feel comfortable in sharing their stories and look for justice.

Even cases with multiple accusers corroborating a pattern of behaviour often don't end with a guilty verdict, with victims routinely dragged through the mud or accused of looking for money because they didn't immediately report a crime to the police. I imagine it's a problem right across the world though, not just the US and UK.

Alright, people really need to try logging out of Twitter for like five minutes, and realise how strawberry floating shite they have made that experience since Musk took over, so they can come to terms with the fact that posting a tweet and saying “check out this thread” is no longer acceptable on a forum like this.

Not sure what your issue is there, jiggy. I clicked on the thread mentioned just above your post and it displayed just fine.

Cheers. I’d guess it was more the spectre of litigation than the replies bothering him.

Laurence Fox has posted a video to X questioning the veracity of allegations related to Russell Brand.

He said: “It’s fascinating to see some parts of the legacy media talking about Russell Brand like we are going to believe anything they say about anything.

“Whatever Russell Brand got up to, and I can guarantee it because I was around, everything he would have done, would have been sort of acceptable.

“Because otherwise his producers would have called him out and fired him.

“Now that may be an uncomfortable thing to deal with for people but that’s how the world was then.

“And this desire to destroy him smacks to most of us who are distrustful of mainstream media as revenge, strange revenge.”

Being defended by all the best people!

This documentary hits far harder than reading the article did, it's spectacularly grim. The cuts to archive footage of Brand are making my skin crawl.

This is rancid. The 00s were really strawberry floated up, weren't they. And Brand turns out to have been the living epitome of it all.

Not a good week to be Jonathon Ross. First there's his effusiveness for both Linehan and his book, and now there's this resurfacing of his escapades with a probable rapist.

That totally exonerates him then. Case closed.
