Yeah USS Callister is the only episode I've seen so far but I loved it. Cristin Milioti

Aaron Paul's cameo was great too. I'm the king of space!

Black Museum:
A nice dark one to end on! Each of the three stories was interesting, but the second one again repeated the cookie concept. At least it added some history to the idea, although I'm not sure connecting episodes together in the same universe will work without creating a million plot holes.
The first story was pure horror at it's best and I'd have loved to see it as a full episode. The third story wrapped things together nicely and managed to create an even worse cookie torture than White Christmas!

A great finish to a great season, but I think we need season 5 to be cookie-free.

My rankings:
1. Crocodile
2. Metalhead
3. Hang the DJ
4. Black Museum
5. USS Callister
6. Arkangel

So far I think Hang the DJ is my favourite episode.

Really good series so far.

My rankings:

1. USS Calister
2. Hang the DJ
3. Black Museum
4. Crocodile
5. Metal Head
6. Ark Angel

I just found Metal Head and Ark Angel a bit predicable but also the way some characters reacted to certain situations just didn't make sense to me. Hang the DJ made me tear up a little bit, I'm such a sucker for romance stuff like that  USS Calister just had the right mix of everything.

Just watched USS Callister, brilliant episode, these real world discussions about AI human rights make a little more sense now.

I saw Hang the DJ last night, best episode of the series so far. However, it didn't compare to San Junipero. It's weird as every episode so far seems to retread an idea from an older episode but not manage to do it quite as well.

So, Hang the dg was that
whole episode just like the math equation of a dating app to see how compatible they were?
or am I more stupid than I thought I was?

I've been binge watching it from the start over the last week or so and it's some mind blowing stuff.

Hang the DJ:

It was kind of that. The app was taking simulations of the real people and then putting them through the test dates. It did it 1000 times with simulations and 998 times the simulated versions of the couple we were watching ended up running away together.

I've watched the first three episodes now (USS Callister, Arkangel, Crocodile). Watchable, but this is easily the worst series of Black Mirror yet.

The first three episodes have been lacking innovation. Arkangel felt like a (less believable) retread of "The Entire History of You" with its tech. "Playtest" also already explored the dangers of being a guinea pig for unproven technology.

Crocodile was predictable, with no twist like the series is somewhat known for. Its central tech-of-the-future especially was just too unbelievable, I couldn't buy into it. I was just thinking "that's not how memories work". Especially with how it was supposedly used at the end. Again, there were definite similarities with "The Entire History of You" with the rewatching of memories.

USS Callister was the best of the three, and the closest to something new with AI copies of people, but that's not too far off what we had in "Be Right Back" or "San Junipero". I also really disliked the lack of explanation for how the AI copies have the same memories, age, appearance etc. when they were created from DNA. Of course it isn't about explaining how the tech works, but it has to appear plausible. "San Junipero" explained it as being an uploaded full brain scan iirc, which was much better.

Also, what's with both USS Callister's and Crocodile's tech being a small unit placed on the temple? Even Arkangel wasn't far off, just being inside the temple instead.

I'm hoping the second half of the series is much better. It's hard to be a "Black Mirror" to society when the futures shown don't seem plausible, and don't have anything new to say.

I loved Black Museum. That felt properly dark for some reason, in a way that I felt Crocodile fell flat. Lots of nods to past series in it too.

Well if it helps, I've watched Hang the DJ now and that was exactly what I wanted. Black Mirror did social media apps with Nosedive, but dating apps is new territory. Great episode, and I even got that twist I was looking for.

Skarjo ranking Crocodile so low because he is thinking about all the guinea pigs that have watched him shagging other peoples girlfriends.
