That was probably the best thing in this series so far. I for one welcome our new bald greengrocer overlords.

So just like every other weekly scripted show, then.

What other shows are you referring to?

The Daily Show and Last Week Tonight come to mind.

I'm sure those shows have much bigger budgets and more staff.

Then maybe the BBC should give Weekly Wipe a bigger budget.

Cunk makes me want to scratch my own eyes out and tear my own ears off. How could anyone ever tell her that she is even remotely funny? :dread:

Latest episode was good, bar the non-Brooker bits. Eastenders and George Osborne in particular, and the bit about Cameron doing second jobs.

Doe ANYONE find that horrible woman doing a Russel Brand impression funny? :dread: I skipped straight past it as soon as it came on. I actually kinda enjoyed Philamena and Shitpeas' bit at the end of the episode about the Oscars this week.

I turned off the first episode when they came on screen and I haven't watched since, although I'm not watching more from apathy than intent

I dislike her for a couple of reasons.

First off, her impression of brand is based on how he was when he first appeared on TV. A lot of the mannerisms she does he doesn't do any more.

Secondly, taking the piss out of one of the only celebrities that's actually trying to do something productive and improve the country is a bit of a dick move. I mean, I'm not really sure what the joke is meant to be.

The show is odd. You have this awesome critical satire from Brooker and then this lowest common denominator one note comedy from most of the contributors. It doesn't really gel well.

I mean is the same audience that cares about Brooker ragging on politicians and news coverage meant to care about Cunk being intentionally stupid to a smart person? She gets the odd laugh from me when she does commentary, but the moments of wonder are just so predictable.

Really? Brand seems like a dick who's more interested in self-promotion than helping the country (not sure how he's doing that apart from appearing on politics shows and shoehorning needlessly long words into his populist rants). He shouldn't be above having the piss taken out of him either way, although admittedly the impression and content is terrible.

I'm not saying he is above it. But why pick him when there a plenty of better targets? I'm guessing because he's easy to do an impression of and she's terrible at impressions.

The trouble with the Russell Brand impression isn't that Russell Brand is trying to make/not make a positive difference to the world but that the impression is painfully unfunny .

So this week's episode was indeed a compilation thing. What a strawberry floating waste of time.

strawberry float sake. Maybe if it was a year-long series, a 'best bits' might be relevant/good, but not for 5 episodes. :fp:

Get in. These specials/annual ones very often deliver big time as the clips/stories are from a much bigger period of time. Much more choice.
