I'm excited! :toot:

I'd say that I'm likely nowhere near as familiar with ALTTP as others so I have every expectation that I will come last in this, but it will be fun nonetheless!

Might try and get this loaded up tonight and possibly give it a stream as well.

Nice. I've updated the OP with more information as well. If you need any help with anything just let me know.

Excellent - the instructions sound straightforward enough but I'll give a shout if it isn't playing nice!

That emotracker tool looks really useful as well.

Emotracker is a great help. It can be a little fiddly at first, but once you get your head round it all it's essential for me.

Just remember to mark stuff off as you collect it as when I was doing the randomizer I would think 'right, I'll mark this off at the same time as I get the next 2 chests in this area' and I' be asking chat what the hell I got

Yeah, Tracker discipline is something you need to develop when playing these. Luckily Emotracker lets you save the progress, so you can carry on where you left off.

I'll do a more detailed guide to Emotracker over the weekend.

For what it's worth I played about 30 minutes of this weeks seed last night and I think it's a good one to start with so far. No spoilers but it's quite generous early on.

As generous as the stream?

I don't want to say much, but it's a good solid start to a playthrough.

I've never finished LTTP, probably got about 30% through, should I even attempt this?

It'll be a bit of fun at least, so why not give it a go.

It tells you in the Race post that it's when Ganon dies. Are you using the link I posted to get the seed?

Yeah. I saw it say Ganon dies, it was more me making sure.

Only thing I did after using your seed (heh) was change Links sprite.

Very good.

I've just finished my playthrough. 3hrs, 36mins and 53.58 Seconds and 179/216 items. Not bad. :D

Thought it was a fairly straightforward seed. It gives you a lot of powerful items in locations you can reach very quickly.
I tried to avoid the Pendant dungeons where possible (Desert Palace, Tower of Hera and Thieves Town), gambling that Sahrasala wasn't going to have anything vital (He didn't) and that the Master Sword Pedestal would be trash as well (It was). Early on I was forced to do Desert Palace to progress and Tower of Hera later on for the Lamp, though I didn't need to complete it. Thieves Town I managed to avoid totally.

Ultimately the items that were holding me back were the Lamp, which stopped Eastern Palace and Palace of Darkness from being completed, and one of the Medallions. Once I found the lamp though, it just opened up naturally from there.
I think my Dungeon progression was Desert Palace -> Skull Woods -> Swamp Palace -> Ice Palace -> Eastern Palace -> Palace of Darkness -> Misery Mire -> Turtle Rock and then Ganon's Tower.

So yeah I'm pretty happy with it as a first seed for this. :D

Got my ROM patched and ready to go, hopefully get a chance to fire it up tonight!

You should stream when you do. That way you can ask me any questions at the time. Though I'll not tell you where anything is.

I won't be taking part as I know I won't stick with it, but I shall watch your career with great interest.

I do believe that with the randomizers if you get lucky enough you can skip loads.

One question to Devlin, as I never finished the randomizer before and 2 of the maiden crystals are red, do you not need to get all the maidens? I assumed you did to unlock Ganon's Tower and then Ganon afterwards.

You always need to get all 7 crystals, yes. The two red ones unlock the Bomb Shop in the Dark World which allows you access to the "Fat Fairy" fountain at the Dark World Pyramid.

3:36 to be exact.

The randomizer modifies the game so that pretty much all the dialogue is removed and some non-gameplay sequences are shortened. Also, some runs don't require you to complete every dungeon. If you get certain items then you might not need to collect all three pendants. I should say that it also shuffles the dungeon reward at the end. So the three dungeons where you usually get the pendant (The three light world ones), might have crystals instead. The map screen shows you what is in each so you can plan around it to some extent. That doesn't mean you don't need to go into the dungeons at all. You may still need to go in to find a certain item, but you might not need to beat the boss.

It's a bit weird at first, since you're so used to playing the dungeons in a certain order and doing certain rooms. But one dungeon in particular I knew as soon as I found the item I needed I could leave and one I didn't enter at all. :D

You should give it a go Ad7. It's a fairly simple "seed" so it's good as a starter I think. This is all just a bit of fun anyway.

If anyone wants to get some more in-depth details on the ALTTP randomizer, this google doc is full of really useful information about how various aspects of it work.
Specifically it's full of tips for routing and how the items are dependant on each other.
