I can 100% guarantee I will be slower than 3hrs 36m!

You should stream when you do. That way you can ask me any questions at the time. Though I'll not tell you where anything is.

Was hoping to get on and stream some about now but kids are refusing to go to bed so it may need to be postponed!

I think the last time I really played ALTTP was the GBA release 15+ years ago so I will have plenty of questions!

https://www.debigare.com/randomizers/ - This is a BIG list of Randomizers for various games.

*Note: I'm not suggesting we do "live" races like this. We just provide a "seed" and it's just who can post the best time on it.

I read this article and it inspired me to start a Zelda OOT random run. Within a few minutes I had big-goron's sword and Ice-Arrows

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Nice. OOT is one that I've not really played the randomizer for yet but I've seen a lot of streams where people have played it. You really need to know that game well I think as things can be locked behind Gold Skulltula prizes (So get 20 to get an item for example. I'll give that a go at some point though. The other one I really want to properly try is Metroid Prime. Tried it once and got locked into the room where you get the morphball. :fp:

Softlocks are a very real threat in some randomizers. Super Metroid for example, if you only have the Power Bombs (And not regular bombs) it's possible to get into an area that you then can't get back out of because you don't have enough PBs and nothing there drops them. I would suggest save states for any non-race game your playing through just to make sure you don't get stuck somewhere.

If you stream at all Winckle, let us know. :D

Got this setup on BSNES now, bit later than expected but might still do a short stream!

Installed the tracker as well but not sure how it works yet.

Good stuff man!

The tracker is fairly straightforward once you know what you're doing with it.

When you open it up, in the top right you'll see a grey cloud icon. Click that and it will show you "packages" for all the different trackers people have made for different games.
I'm using the "EmoTracker Official ALTTP Support" pack so install that.

The cog icon, next to it has all the program options (It's also where you can save the notes you've made).
Click on that then "Installed Packages". This lets you choose the package you want to use. Go into the one we installed and choose "Standard Map Tracker".
This will open up a fresh tracker for a new game by default when you open the programme.

You can mark off locations and items. Locations allow you to mark off areas you have already checked. They are also colour coded.
Red: Unreachable (These aren't shown by default).
Green: Reachable
Blue: Visible, but unreachable
Yellow: Reachable, but will require glitches/speedrunning abilities (The randomiser doesn't require you to know these to finish the game).
Orange: Multiple chests/items, but you can't get all of them.

You can mark them off by clicking on them.

Items in most cases you just left click. Some items have additional options that you can get by right-clicking.

I'm making it sound more complex than it is. Don't worry too much about it as you'll get the hang of it.

Whoops! We've all been there!

Is Pedz playing on 2x speed or something? Looks like it's all moving quicker than when I was playing last night!

Speed looks about right to me.

Might be his sprite I guess.

If you can run a SNES emulator, yeah. :D

Not sure about the tracker software, but I'm sure there are Mac equivalents.

EDIT: Not so much. Someone else on Mac had a similar issue. There are web-based trackers though.

You playing a PAL or US version?

Maybe you're playing in the dreaded 50hz.

It will only accept a specific ROM, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah 60hz all the way. :datass:

Maybe it's just the Luigi sprite making it look quicker than my more chilled out Cactuar.

Was all set up on my Samsung tablet to take part in this (away from home for the next couple of weeks or I'd do it on my PC). Emulator up and running, ROM patched and transferred to the tablet, packed a DS4 controller and... the controller is super laggy and unresponsive.
It's my own damn fault really. I remember trying this before on my phone and having the same experience. Should have packed more controllers. Maybe my 8Bitdo would have fared better?

My 8Bitdo works great on my Kindle Fire. Sucks that it's too unresponsive for you.

Alright, it's working pretty well now. It still feels a bit laggy, but it's playable.

Problemo numero dos: I think I transferred the original ROM instead of the patched ROM to my tablet... :fp:
Only now realizing I should have noticed immediately seeing as I chose a different character and different colour hearts, but I played through the beginning and got to Kakariko village and was apalled at my luck in the basement with the four chests. Four red rupees? I thought this seed was supposed to be generous at the start!

Anyway, that should be a quick fix. Should be able to upload the ROM for the patch from my tablet.

Glad you got something working.

But yeah it's a fairly straightforward seed to get going with.

I actually ran through this seed (https://www.reddit.com/r/alttpr/comments/c9z8x1/casual_tournament_style_seed_for_the_2nd_week_of/) today. A bit harder than the one we're doing. Was a while before I got my first sword and I had to do the initial sections with only the Cane of Somaria (Red Cane) as a weapon. Got a few weapons after a while, but also had to do my first dungeon (Tower of Hera) without the Sword meaning I had to fight Moldorm with the Hammer. That's great because he goes down in three hits with that, but it's tricky to time the attack and positioning. All in all it took me 4:06 to beat it, which isn't bad for me, but the other people who have posted times range from 1:58 to 2:46 so far. That said, I don't use any glitches and my routing needs practicing.

How's everyone else doing with our Seed? Pedz wasn't too far off it last night when I went to bed.
