I'll give it a go. Lagfest is probably the wrong description, it was more screen-tear city.

I use Mesen since it's supposed to be the most accurate NES emulator. Works fine.

There are lists out there of the most accurate emulators also, may be worth trying those.

Bizhawk seems to be also, I think Bizhawk is what you can use with emotracker for it to auto mark stuff off in the LttP randomizer.

Only now realizing I should have noticed immediately seeing as I chose a different character and different colour hearts, but I played through the beginning and got to Kakariko village and was apalled at my luck in the basement with the four chests. Four red rupees? I thought this seed was supposed to be generous at the start!

Anyway, that should be a quick fix. Should be able to upload the ROM for the patch from my tablet.

Glad you got something working.

But yeah it's a fairly straightforward seed to get going with.

I actually ran through this seed (https://www.reddit.com/r/alttpr/comments/c9z8x1/casual_tournament_style_seed_for_the_2nd_week_of/) today. A bit harder than the one we're doing. Was a while before I got my first sword and I had to do the initial sections with only the Cane of Somaria (Red Cane) as a weapon. Got a few weapons after a while, but also had to do my first dungeon (Tower of Hera) without the Sword meaning I had to fight Moldorm with the Hammer. That's great because he goes down in three hits with that, but it's tricky to time the attack and positioning. All in all it took me 4:06 to beat it, which isn't bad for me, but the other people who have posted times range from 1:58 to 2:46 so far. That said, I don't use any glitches and my routing needs practicing.

How's everyone else doing with our Seed? Pedz wasn't too far off it last night when I went to bed.

I've got mine working at last! Thank you Devlin for the assistance in the PM, and thanks to everyone else in the thread too. I'm toiling a little bit at the moment - picked up the Hookshot right off the bat, and am now in desperate need of either the hammer or the orb that keeps you composed as Link(or in my case, Clifford the big red dog) in the dark world.

Glad you got it up and running. Remember that some kind of tracker will really help you keep... well, track, of the items and locations that you've checked.

It's best to try and plan your route, especially early on (See my previous posts on this) as you can get loads of checks done, quite quickly.

Once the checks start getting a bit more spread out and less condensed, you should start looking at what dungeons you have access to. Most trackers will turn a dungeon green when you can get everything in it and complete it.

Oh and here's the Routing Hints and Tips document I mentioned yesterday.

Hmm, thought I would have a go at the SMB3 rando but I'm not getting the same item code as listed here...

I updated the randomizer to the latest version and I'm using the US SMB3 rom, was I supposed to do anything with any of the additional check boxes on the randomizer tool?

Make sure the Seed box has the same number in it and that the Flags box has the same letters as below:

Seed: 509698218768
Flags: KHHZPB

If that doesn't work, let me know.

Yeah, I typed the flags value in wrong! :fp:

Up and running now! :toot:

Cheers mate. I didn't realise I could tick off locations as they were done on my tracker so I restarted. Am now back in the same position though, of needing the orb or the lantern to continue and not appearing to have any options.

Look at your tracker. If you've cleared off all the easy to get to locations you need to think how you can access the others. Most of the trackers are really good at understanding the logic, so if it's green then you should be able to access it somehow.

I ended up bluffing my way through the Death Mountain trail and coming across the lamp. I'm in the Dark World now. This is a great challenge though, thoroughly enjoying it. :D

You could easily take 30 minutes off. If, you go the correct route and don't die as much as I did

If you were a speed runner and knew the route it'd be done in 10 minutes.

Finished my first go through earlier, didn't time it as I was just checking out the best route. It can definitely be done in under an hour.

Oh, I didn't realise people were actually going to do that. I just assumed it was going to be a blind race. Like 1 run through and done kind of thing. I may remove my time and change it as I can get a strawberry float ton off as I know what I'm doing now

Well I was just testing out my new controller really, but ended up playing for a couple of hours till I beat it  Didn't get chance to set up timing or anything.

I feel like it's a short enough run to have several tries.

Yeah, it's definitely short enough for several goes. Need to crack on with Bloodstained, Sonic Boom and when Grum and Matt are about SoD2 is the only thing that will get played. I may get another go at it, but likely not.

Just had a bash at this tonight.

After over 1 hour I had only completed one World and had died an uncountable number of times! :fp:

Not sure what the rules are on "split attempts" but I've saved my state and timer and will aim to give it another go when I've recharged my willpower to watch Mario die! :slol:
