Somerset Brie :datass:

not a big fan of French Brie.

Love Stilton, I like it in sandwiches but when ever I have it I can't help but have a bit as I pass the fridge so it never lasts long.

Love cheese in all its forms. I even love American/plastic cheese.

Generally the stinkier the better. Went to a fromagerie last year and tried this stuff that was so mouldy it had formed a sort of tree bark like crust. It was strawberry floating delicious.

Could literally eat cheese all day. Serious.

Because of European Union food hygiene-health regulations, the cheese has been outlawed, and offenders faced heavy fines. However, some Sardinians organized themselves in order to make casu marzu available on the black market, where it could be sold for double the price of an ordinary block of pecorino cheese.

I bloody love cheese in most of its forms, although I utterly detest cottage cheese.

My favourites include:

Mature Cheddar (not the extra mature stuff)
Double Gloucester
Wensleydale
Red Leicester
White Stilton
Feta
Brie
Parmesan

Not too keen on:

Edam
Emental
Danish Blue
Mozzarella (I find it far too chewy)

I also like a lot of the weird cheeses you see in specialist cheese shop, there's one near to me that does a superb pickled onion cheddar that should be classed as an addictive substance.

British supermarket edam is tasteless junk. Proper dutch edam though :datass:

I bought some on a visit to a cheese & clog farm near Volendam, t'was the nicest cheese i've ever tasted.

I also highly recommend these Goudas, they can often be found in Dutch supermarkets.

That said though, i still thoroughly enjoy the edam/gouda i purchase in the shops here, but the stuff from Holland itself is truly god tier.

Cheese.

I've been disappointed by French cheese on the few occasions I've been over there to sample it locally. It's a real shame as they strawberry floating nail the bread side of the equation but fall down on the cheese.

Switzerland has some lovely cheese - bloody expensive though.

Too true. We went on holiday to Switzerland a few years back and although we had a great time we did return home essentially penniless. :cry:

It's even worse if you pay with euros (a lot of the Swiss shops i visited accepted euros on the understanding that they would give you francs as change), thankfully i actually made sure to get some swiss francs before going (some of the other folks on the tour only carried euros).

The crushing disappointment you feel when you order a cheese board at a restaurant and they bring it out saying "I'm sorry but we'd run out of everything except cheddar" doesn't bare thinking about. Not that there's anything wrong with cheddar but it can't carry an entire board by itself.

We had a cheese and wine night with a couple of our friends a few weeks back and it was incredible. So many cheeses with so many biscuit varieties and olives, grapes, pickled peppers and chutney and so on and so forth. Oh God I really want to eat it all again now.

Am I right in thinking that cheese has an addictive quality? Which is probably why we all have cheese boners right now.
