We have ours tomorrow night and the amount of people giving me grief is unreal, wish they would just respect my wishes for not wanting to go (I always get way to drunk and im one of the last ones out)

I dont want to blow a strawberry float load of money and be hungover the next day but I would find it hard to cope if I'm not drunk so going and not drinking wouldn't be an option.

I feel like I'm missing out but I don't want to get dragged into going crazy as I know what I'm like as I don't know when to stop

I don't bother any more. I'm not in to getting wasted like that any more and that's what most people want out of it.

Also, I've finished work for the year :toot:

Tree up. As yet unmolested by cats.

The reason I use the ribbons instead of tinsel is that one year one of the beasties swallowed some of it and needed surgery to have it removed from their intestine.

I won’t be attending any Christmas parties for the foreseeable, got insanely drunk last year (to the point where I can’t actually remember what the hell happened) after a couple of people thought it was a good idea to give me a shot of very strong tequila (the couple of pints and two free bottles of wine shortly beforehand had nothing to do with it, I swear!), I mainly blame the shot as after that my memory is a blank, before I was well on my way to being drunk but could still recall what was going on. To be honest I’ve barely drunk this year and not missed it one bit, just the odd pint here and there in a pub or with a meal out, nothing crazy.

The kitten has been playing with a branch that fell off the tree for over a week now, he doesn't seem bothered about the tree itself though.

He'll probably wait until Christmas day to climb up it.

I’m hearing a lot of pretty poor covers of classics this year though :dread:

No idea if it’s just the crappy selection my employer has gone for or if it’s widespread, I hope not!

I'm looking up the last of the presents I want to buy people, I have most people sorted but I still need to get a few. I'm actually quite surprised at myself, I'm normally more organised than this when it comes to Christmas

Got my tree up yesterday. Bought lights for the windows but they turned out to be different colours.

Think I'll make it as far as Christmas dinner before hearing that.

Usually have some Crimbo compilation forced on us by my mum, at least she's finally stopped inflicting the Jive Bunny Xmas album on everyone (every year for nearly 30 years :fp: :dread:).

I do love a good (or bad) Christmas song, but I'm sick to death of these twee covers of popular songs. Stick a girl in front of a mic with an acoustic guitar, pick a song- any song, slow it right the strawberry float down, maybe throw in a choir if you're feeling saucy, and suddenly that constitutes a Christmas song. strawberry float. Off.

Wonderwall was pushing it, but now the BBC are taking the piss and using Feel Good Inc.! Is that supposed to be ""festive""???

And while we're on it, what the strawberry float have REO Speedwagon got to do with strawberry floating Christmas?

Anyone else watching SPOTY? If Stokes doesn't win, I riot.

I am a massive, massive fan of Dina and KJT, but what Stokes accomplished this year beggars belief.

I can't stand this. It goes for any time of year too, just take something people know well and make it sound like someone singing a suicide note.

I just can’t get hyped for Christmas this year. Got all my gifts early on, wrapped was excited then. Now it’s just a stress of the period at work & it killing my enthusiasm. I’ve not organised a work do this year (we have a company wide one in February but at a site level we should do our own now really..) for my staff, but it’s such a faff organizing people within my team that I’m just like not even bothered. I’m sure I’ll feel good closer to the time.

Sorry I took all the Xmas cheer out of the thread. If it helps I had my tree up in November :P
