I have seen but thanks for the link. I'm no longer NHS (At lest not on Christmas Day) but I've still got ID so might take the free food offer.

I've now been informed that for years everyone buys for everyone in their team. So I've gotta buy five people I'm not particularly fond of, or know very well, a present so I don't look like a dick when I'm given five presents from them. Also, there's three teams working Christmas, and 'it's tradition' for floor staff to buy for management for the day. So basically, I've now got 13 presents to buy so we can swap candles and soap with 13 other staff for the sake of tradition.

I'm fairly new and my work character is professional and completely separate from my actual personality, so I doubt anyone will blows away with their choice of gift. I don't really know much about the floor staff either so will end up buying generic gooseberry fool for them too. I don't want to sound unappreciative of gifts but ffs, I really don't care for spending £150 on mediocre gifts for mediocre people just to revive the same mediocre stuff back. Luckily, it's not a financial burden for me, just feels a bit of a waste of time and effort.

That is some.bullshit right there. You'll all just buy each other generic crap because you have to. Pointless and a waste of money.

Still got 8 days of work to go, but then I'm off until the 6th of January which will be nice!

Got given a Sonic the Hedgehog Christmas jumper by my wife (and chosen by my daughter) last night - my life is now complete!

Little one's birthday is out the way now so we went got a real tree last night and got it decorated. It's the first proper year he's been stupidly excited for Christmas which in turn has got me all excited for Christmas again.

Last few years I have been wrapping gooseberry fool loads on Christmas eve - just don't seem to have the time to get stuff sorted any earlier than that!

Got quite a few things either bought or on order for the kids now but the wife is still the tricky one!

I always find myself wrapping presents on Christmas Eve anyway, not because it’s the only chance I but I actually kind of enjoy it as once I finish work for Christmas (sometimes get 2 days off if I’m lucky!), I get home, put the Muppets Christmas Carol on, get a pot of tea brewed up and get wrapping. It’s become almost my little tradition! Probably won’t last forever but for now it suits me fine.

In other news I’ve finished Christmas shopping for this year, this has to be the earliest I’ve every actually finished so I’m pretty pleased on the whole!

Always wrap your presents a few days out form the big day, preferably while pleasantly drunk. Makes it an actually exciting and enjoyable experience rather than a chore... although I admit the artistry of the wrapping tends to degrade as the evening goes on.

I've just come back from Ella's school. Their Christmas variety performances were brilliant, the choir sang beautifully, the solo artists were absolutely brilliant and the 4 piece band was just amazing. They played sweet child of mine and the guy playing the guitar solo absolutely nailed it.

The wind instrument group played Hedwigs song. The flute players were brilliant but when the saxophone players (including the teacher!) Started playing it sounded like a train was in the room drowning out the rest of the music. One of the saxophone players was mouthing "that was terrible" to his mum in the audience whilst trying not to laugh as they sat back down.

The drama club did a short version of a Christmas Carol with no props whatsoever. It was good for the fact half of the cast wasn't there, the main highlight was the kid playing scrooge who literally threw himself on the floor every time he was meant to be asleep in bed!

I had my first mince pies during the interval with a nice cup of tea. A very good Christmassy evening has been had!

Ludo is gooseberry fool!

Mince pie consumption has ramped up. I wrap my presents a week or so before Christmas, leaving the rest of the days for getting pissed and playing games without anything else to do.

Do peeps here go to work Christmas party's?

We have ours tomorrow night and the amount of people giving me grief is unreal, wish they would just respect my wishes for not wanting to go (I always get way to drunk and im one of the last ones out)

I dont want to blow a strawberry float load of money and be hungover the next day but I would find it hard to cope if I'm not drunk so going and not drinking wouldn't be an option.

I feel like I'm missing out but I don't want to get dragged into going crazy as I know what I'm like as I don't know when to stop

Been visiting Christmas Markets over the last week, Birmingham and Bath were both particularly excellent, and i'm always fond of those special german style gluhwein china mugs you get at the Birmingham one (i've also encountered them at various continental ones).

Doing Winchester next which will be neat (they usually have a giant cauldron of gluhwein which is fun), and then Cardiff will likely be my last before Christmas.

I never bother with Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland though, tried one year and it was so ridiculously crowded, i bailed.
