The guardian said it was the best in Europe and it's actually garbage. Sitting in McDonald's with a milkshake looking at ferries to Helsinki for a do over. So, so gutted.

Made mince pies today. Gluten free because of the wife's intolerance but they're not bad!

Works Christmas party was fantastic. It helps that we are a large company, and I generally like the people I work with. Next year some of us are going to try to form a band so we can perform for the party (and get free booze in the bargain)

Spent all weekend doing christmas stuff - it's the first year we've actually owned a house so have to buy a lot of stuff in one go, however the plan is to get loads of stuff super-cheap early in january for next year.

Forgot to add that you should read less pretentious newspapers.

Let us know how the next market is anyhow.

Might get around to it this evening!

So got parents Christmas present sorted (ROBO VAC!)

Anyone got a suggestion for £20ish for family friends? I'm not too fussed about them (and might keep if they don't get me anything) but need to have something prepped and ready to go if they spring something on me

Very nearly finished my Christmas shopping, just need to decide on a couple more small things for one person and then I’m done!

I'm working Christmas Day, so asked the other week with my staff if they wanna do a secret Santa so we've got something to open. I've now been informed that for years everyone buys for everyone in their team. So I've gotta buy five people I'm not particularly fond of, or know very well, a present so I don't look like a dick when I'm given five presents from them. Also, there's three teams working Christmas, and 'it's tradition' for floor staff to buy for management for the day. So basically, I've now got 13 presents to buy so we can swap candles and soap with 13 other staff for the sake of tradition.

I'm fairly new and my work character is professional and completely separate from my actual personality, so I doubt anyone will blows away with their choice of gift. I don't really know much about the floor staff either so will end up buying generic gooseberry fool for them too. I don't want to sound unappreciative of gifts but ffs, I really don't care for spending £150 on mediocre gifts for mediocre people just to revive the same mediocre stuff back. Luckily, it's not a financial burden for me, just feels a bit of a waste of time and effort.
