I do think, and this just anecdotal really, Christmas during the 80s & 90s was a lot more of a focused event and felt more special as a result. I barely saw any decorations up before a fortnight before Christmas Day. People didn't go mad with turning their houses into giant light shows (which seems to be the modern version of keeping up with the Joneses).

It was more intimate, cosy and required a lot less work to organise. The amount of strawberry floating work I see families putting in these days is crazy.

Getting Metroid Dread as a pressie and I think I'll finally get round to Miles Morales myself. Got it for my son last Christmas and he finished it on Christmas day!

Having two Christmas days this year. One with the girlfriend, one with the family.

First time cooking a Christmas dinner as well. I seriously hope we don't give each other food poisoning.

Took my kids for a drive yesterday to see all the Christmas lights in our neighbourhood and some people really have gone ALL OUT, it's almost obscene how much money people must have ~~wasted~~ spent on cheap tat to stick outside their house... for some reason. Got to get those Instagram likes, I guess.

We've put lights on the tree that sits outside our house but that's as far as we'd go. It's so easy to cross the classy/tacky divide, with most sadly falling tripping over it whilst blowing up their inflatable snowmen :dread:
