I've caved to panic buying.. :simper:

I've preemptively bought everything I need for a Christmas dinner to keep in the freezer, just in case the country goes to gooseberry fool and we run out of meat and potatoes in December.

But the UK won't resort to panic buying, right? Right?

I'm going to my Dad's Christmas day and he's preordered his Turkey at the local farm shop weeks ago, he thought he was slow so rushed and he was the first person.

Can you freeze potatoes? Feels like that might not result in a great roastie at the end of it :dread:

Bought some new outdoor Christmas lights this morning, going to double up on the lights I put up in the tree in our front garden last year :toot:

You can freeze anything if you put your mind to it

Decided tobin the red stuff and go full scandi style this year. Just been out to grab a few bits but can't find a nice enough eucalyptus garland. I want to decorate the tree tonight but husband is working until 8 so probably a little late for that.

I gave the neighbours a free pass last year because of the terrible year we all had but this year November is well too early for decorations and the tree.

2021 hasn't exactly been stellar, but it's still not been as bad as 2020.

Anyhow, i've almost completely finished my christmas shopping now, all i need is some gift wrap, and i may still get the odd extra gift if i stumble across something amazing.

Some Christmases back I read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. One of the best things I've ever read.

It may be the original, but it's not the definitive version...

Having seen that many, many times over the years I was genuinely surprised as a young 'un to learn that there were not in fact two Marleys in the original story.

‘How many ghosts are there in A Christmas Carol’ was a question on a pub quiz a couple of years ago and several people were legitimately angry and arguing that 5 should be an acceptable answer.

This line has also entered common usage in every day language for me, typically when helping with some task in a relatively brief and inconsequential way.

I didn't know this, but thank you for teaching me because I'll definitely be making use of this in the future.
