We had to give up our roast turkey last year in the chaos, my mum was due round at ours but when lockdown came back in she had to cancel and didn't have any food prepared. Had roast beef instead, which was actually fine. Was nice to not have the pressure of CHRISTMAS FAMILY SOCIAL CALENDAR but equally, I missed a few things like the big group meal I usually organise for friends and partners, and Christmas Eve drinks with people etc.

I'm looking forward to putting together another picture of the outside of your house at Christmas, Victor! Please be sure to post lots of stuff about your street over the next couple of months as they'll provide inspiration for me  .

Oh yeah you'll have plenty of inspiration this year. The in-laws are staying with us, so maybe we'll have a repeat of them arriving and driving in to the front of the house :toot:

Qikz wrote:I've been using the same decorations for probably around 10-15 years at this point and there's sentimental things that go on my tree that I made when I was like 3 years old. Even though the tree looks basically the same every year it always feels really nice putting the decorations up and remembering all the previous happy times I had.

We used to do the same, had decorations I'd made at primary school, unused candles from teachers when I was really little, vintage (and probably death trap) tree lights with proper bulbs, things like that. I used to love decorating the tree with mum and putting all those things out, it was like Christmas had properly arrived

Then dad chucked it all on the floor of the garage and it all go smashed up and broken (we found it under 8 foot of hoarded rubbish in his garage). The strawberry floating banana split. I'd have still had that stuff on my tree now

I had my Xmas lunch out at a pub/hotel a couple of years back and I’m hoping to rebook. Sacrilege or acceptable?

It's more than fine.

I had a Christmas dinner in a pub with a few friends a few years back, and it was great.

That said, there were some old folks sat next to us who were cavorting around spraying water pistols at each other, and we all got the gooseberry fools the next day.

Admittedly, I didn't really explain that very well.

What I'd say is, just avoid anywhere that's likely to have gleeful old folks toting water pistols or it'll properly mess up your boxing day.

Also, don't get involved in their water pistol fight if you do find yourself in that situation no matter how fun it may seem at the time.

I'm certain that wrestling is how we all got the stomach cramps.

Get those Christmas Markets open already, and let me chow down on large amounts of the food that only comes out with those Markets.
