+1 for being mentally worn out by the presence of others. In-laws wanted us to go over again today and have a takeaway with them but there's just no way I can face interacting with people four days in a row. Just want to lock myself in a room.

Even the sound of the tumble dryer is tipping me over the edge right now.

Ella has a limit on her social battery, she can only really spend a few hours with family till she's completely spent and wants to be on her own for a bit. Luckily no one in the family minds as she's been doing this for a little while now. Doesn't matter who she's with either, if she's with her friends it's the same thing. She'll come home, give me a brief description of her day and want to hole herself up in her room for a bit for a breather.

We both got socks, I got extremely fluffy ones with frogs on

I think it's even more difficult with friends in my experience. I feel like my friends see it as me being grumpy and if I have an extended period of wanting to be alone, they seem to take it that I'm being miserable and stop contacting me altogether. Then I have the absolutely daunting task of having to be the one to shout up and say, "hey guys, I'm still here and I'd like to do something now, so long as you don't all hate me now or something"

Think yourselves lucky your visitors actually want to interact with you.

My brother showed up with my niece, and he's bought her a tablet computer for christmas, so pretty much for the duration of the visit, mum and I were treated as if we weren't even there while they buggered about with the sodding thing.

Why would anyone visit their family, only to spend the whole visit glued to a screen while ignoring the very people they came to see?

I don't blame my niece, she's only 8 and kids do get engrossed in whatever shiny new things they've been given, as far as my brother is concerned though, his behaviour was rude, disrespectful, and unacceptable.

The final straw was when mum asked him if he ever thinks about and misses Dad, apparently he doesn't. This time of year is generally very sensitive for me and Mum regarding what happened with Dad (christmas 2016 was basically, hospital hell), and for him to show such blatant disregard and coldness over it is quite frankly, beyond my understanding.

Sorry for the rant, but this afternoon really was quite something.

I miss my mum loads around Christmas, and think about her all the time, I can't understand your brother it is beyond my understanding as well, went to see Wonka today and something in that made me think of her and start crying, so I guess I'm just trying to say I get it and plenty of other people would feel like you.

Yeah, I know what you mean, and I appreciate it.

Mum can't even begin to fathom the behaviour she was objected to, she was reduced to tears afterwards and that just made me feel even angrier.

I would have interveined at the time, but doing so would have upset my niece, and that would have only made things worse so it just wasn't worth it.

I can see why my brother is now separated from his wife, she couldn't put up with it anymore.

The decorations here have now been taken down, didn't see any point in delaying the inevitable.
