I get why everyone is keen on this. I am too. What I don’t get is why most people ignored Morkredd.

Morkredd was genuinely brilliant.

I'm a few hours into this and quite stuck. No guides available either. Where's Andrew Mills when you need him?!

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I like the subtlety of it but less keen on what you would call the boss battles (Mario Odyssey anyone?). The thing I'm struggling with them most is a lack awareness of where I am and also, to a lesser extent, why I'm doing what I'm doing.

I guess it'll be short so I'll probably carry on for now.

Apart from the one boss battle (purple world) that plays directly on your sense of where you are, I’m not sure I get you at all. The bosses are wonderful bits of intuitive game design.

I think I confused matters, the bit about lack of awareness was more a comment on the game itself as opposed to the actual boss battles. Should have dropped into a new paragraph.

The way you jump in and out of worlds is an amazing effect.

Finished!

It was OK. A bit dull, but at least the ending wasn't depressing (like Limbo and Inside) - or maybe it was. I have no idea.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Oh! I was going to buy on Switch (my preferred place to play stuff) but now less sure.

I appreciate the craft that's gone into it. It's very polished, solid and tightly scripted. The art direction is OK, but when your brief is 'abstract bio-technology with no context' how can you go wrong?

I also think the 'worlds within worlds' thing is a bit of an illusion because in truth it's as linear as Limbo and Inside were. I wasn't a massive fan of those games either, so if you really loved those games you might well disagree with my opinion.

Loving this tbh after 4hrs in, some of the puzzles stumped me but they where never too obtuse.

(Edit, referring to Octorocomment): Interesting. I think I was a bit agnostic on Limbo (and don't think I completed it but might be wrong) but enjoyed Inside, even if I found it overall very Good but not quite Great (and I wasn't bowled over by the ending like many).

Linearity point is interesting, too. It sounds like it might be akin to those games in terms of their stepwise, linear sequence of self-contained puzzles thing. Making me think it's one of those games I find admirable and tasteful without Loving.

But what am I talking about I've not even played it! I think now I'm More interested in having a go and seeing :)

I like it more than Limbo and Inside tbh, possibly because the controls are tight and snappy (on Series X) compared to both of those games.

Yes the controls are light and breezy compared to its predecessors and I appreciated that the fly-thing doesn't slow down when carrying orbs about. Some of the later, more involved puzzles could have been very tedious if this was not the case.

I mostly liked it, but I didn't love it.

I think the world felt very sterile and clinical. Like I was interacting with a piece in a science museum rather than a work of art.

I'm starting to think that my opinion on games is vastly different to most others, I really love this game and the Starfield thread is incredibly damning of a game I'm also really enjoying.
