Saw it here in Yorkshire, the images you see on social media have definitely had their contrast/exposure levels enhanced, I could see them with then naked eye, but nowhere near what some images would lead you to believe. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen them in person though, was pretty neat.

Are these likely happening tonight as well?

I'm gutted that I missed it!

Apparently it will appear again tonight.

I’ve seen that it could be better tonight? If it stays clear of course which is never certain!

Just took this with my phone's night setting. Obviously not as vivid with the naked eye but you could still see the colours without. Doubt I'll ever see it like that again here in N. Ireland; tonight could prove me wrong though!

These aren’t doctored. I just set it for a 10 second exposure to get more light in.

Good photos, guys. I managed to get a few photos with a relatively light purple streak, but to the naked eye, it looked white.

Curious whether you guys saw the colours with the naked eye? I am further south than it was predicted, and didnt venture away from home and the background light which that brings, but just happy to witness the phenomenon.

I could see the greens quicker than I could see the purples, but it still took about 15 minutes in the dark for my eyes to properly adjust

How did you people know about this to be out looking for it to take pictures? I hadn't seen any mention of it until this morning.

Aurora app on my phone alerts me. Usually kicks around 5% to 15% chance and on the better nights it's always overcast here. Last night was 75% so I stared outside all evening.

I am in Cumbria so better chances for me but it was an extravaganza. Started with what looked like a white mist over the entire sky was really the green aurora. After a while it condensed into a strip of white and then went pink to the naked eye. From there it morphed into reds, purples and blues. I can't recall if it went green to the eye. It was like that for an hour. Looked like the Eye of Sauron directly above. Other half and I lay out in the garden under a blanket just watching it.

Night sight on your phone camera will show you the colours if your eyes can't tell.

I read about it on a couple of news sites last night before bed. There are apps, but I didn't get notified as Norwich wasn't predicted to see it. With things like this it really is a case of being in the right place at the right time. Keep an eye out tonight, as I've been told it may return.

Should have known that a werewolf would be out taking snapshots after dark. :capnscotty:

Quite visible here in Derbyshire, despite the light pollution (sodding council installed a streetlight right next to our garden a few years ago - then wrote a snotty letter saying one of our trees was in the way).
